Al Shawkani Exegesis – Surat Yousuf (No 12)
Ayah 1-111
الر ۚ تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ.(1)
Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the clear Book (1).
Alif, Lam, Ra [As Previously Mentioned In The Prelude Or The Beginning Of The Previous Suwar [# 10 Surat Yunus, # 11 Surat Houd] & In This Surah # 12 Surat Yousuf, Imam Al Qurtubi Affirms That These Singular Arabic Letters Are Both The Mystery and Secret of Allah (SWT) in the Glorious Qur’an.
This “Glorious Book” The Ayat Of Which Have Been Determined, Judged, Idealised & Perfected Thence Offered In Detail From Allah (SWT) Who Is Wise, Aware & Informed.
إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ.(2)
Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an that you might understand (2).
We (SWT) Have Delivered This Glorious Arabic Qur’an For Your Comprehension.
نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ أَحْسَنَ الْقَصَصِ بِمَا أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ وَإِن كُنتَ مِن قَبْلِهِ لَمِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ.(3)
We relate to you, [O Muhammad], the best of stories in what We have revealed to you of this Qur’an although you were, before it, among the unaware (3).
We (SWT) Narrate To You, Oh Messenger [SAAS] The Finest Of Stories Of Our Qur’anic Revelation Even Though You Were Before This Revelation
Amongst The Ignorant & Unaware.
إِذْ قَالَ يُوسُفُ لِأَبِيهِ يَا أَبَتِ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوْكَبًا وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ رَأَيْتُهُمْ لِي سَاجِدِينَ.(4)
[Of these stories mention] when Joseph said to his father, “O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me” (4).
And So Prophet Yusuf [AS] Said To His Father, “Of My Father, Verily I Have Seem In [My Dream] Eleven Stars And The Sun & Moon, I Envisaged Them Prostrating To Me”.
قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تَقْصُصْ رُؤْيَاكَ عَلَىٰ إِخْوَتِكَ فَيَكِيدُوا لَكَ كَيْدًا ۖ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لِلْإِنسَانِ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ.(5)
He said, “O my son, do not relate your vision to your brothers or they will contrive against you a plan. Indeed Satan, to man, is a manifest enemy (5).
His Father Replied, “Oh My Son, Do Not Recount & Narrate Your Vision To Your Brothers. Otherwise, They Will Fabricate Against You A Conspiracy Verily, Al Shaytan To Humankind Is An Obvious & Blatant Enemy.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَجْتَبِيكَ رَبُّكَ وَيُعَلِّمُكَ مِن تَأْوِيلِ الْأَحَادِيثِ وَيُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ يَعْقُوبَ كَمَا أَتَمَّهَا عَلَىٰ أَبَوَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
وَإِسْحَاقَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ.(6)
And thus will your Lord choose you and teach you the interpretation of narratives and complete His favor upon you and upon the family of Jacob, as He completed it upon your fathers before, Abraham and Isaac. Indeed, your Lord is Knowing and Wise” (6).
And Thus Allah (SWT) Selects You And Teaches You From The Interpretation Of Narratives (Fictional & Relational) And Completing The Benevolence Of Allah (SWT) Upon You (Prophet Yusuf [AS]) And Upon The Posterity Of Prophet Ya’qoub [AS]. As He (SWT) Completed It Upon Your For-Fathers: Before Prophet Ibrahim [AS] & Prophet Is’haaq [AS]. Verily, Allah (SWT) Is Knowledgeable & Wise.
لَّقَدْ كَانَ فِي يُوسُفَ وَإِخْوَتِهِ آيَاتٌ لِّلسَّائِلِينَ.(7)
Certainly were there in Joseph and his brothers signs for those who ask, (7).
Surely, For Prophet Yusuf [AS] & His Brethren There Were Ayat For Those Who Enquire Seeking Truth.
إِذْ قَالُوا لَيُوسُفُ وَأَخُوهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَىٰ أَبِينَا مِنَّا وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌ إِنَّ أَبَانَا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ.(8)
When they said, “Joseph and his brother are more beloved to our father than we, while we are a clan. Indeed, our father is in clear error (8).
They (The Brethren Of Prophet Yusuf) Said, Prophet Yusuf [AS] & His Brother (Prophet Benjmen (AS)] Are More Beloved To Our Father Than We Are While We Are A Clique Or A Clan. Indeed, Our Father Is In Obvious Aberrance.
اقْتُلُوا يُوسُفَ أَوِ اطْرَحُوهُ أَرْضًا يَخْلُ لَكُمْ وَجْهُ أَبِيكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا مِن بَعْدِهِ قَوْمًا صَالِحِينَ.(9)
Kill Joseph or cast him out to [another] land; the countenance of your father will [then] be only for you, and you will be after that a righteous people (9).
They Said:” Kill Prophet Yusuf [AS] Or Dispose Or Deal With Him Out To Another Land. Then The Physiognomy Of Your Father Shall Only Be Yours After Which You Become A Righteous People.
قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ لَا تَقْتُلُوا يُوسُفَ وَأَلْقُوهُ فِي غَيَابَتِ الْجُبِّ يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ السَّيَّارَةِ إِن كُنتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ.(10)
Said a speaker among them, “Do not kill Joseph but throw him into the bottom of the well; some travelers will pick him up – if you would do [something]” (10).
One Of Them Said:” Do Not Murder Prophet Yusuf [AS] But Rather Throw Him Down Into The Bottom Of A Well So That A Passing Caravan May Pick Him Up, If You Intend To Do So”.
قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا مَا لَكَ لَا تَأْمَنَّا عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَنَاصِحُونَ.(11)
They said, “O our father, why do you not entrust us with Joseph while indeed, we are to him sincere counselors? (11).
His Sons Collectively Said: “Oh Our Father: “Why Do You Not Entrust Us With Prophet Yusuf [AS] And We Shall Be His Advisers & Custodians To Him.
أَرْسِلْهُ مَعَنَا غَدًا يَرْتَعْ وَيَلْعَبْ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ.(12)
Send him with us tomorrow that he may eat well and play. And indeed, we will be his guardians (12)
Let Him Escort Us Tomorrow So That He May Eat & Drink, Play MerryAnd We Shall Be His Protectors.
قَالَ إِنِّي لَيَحْزُنُنِي أَن تَذْهَبُوا بِهِ وَأَخَافُ أَن يَأْكُلَهُ الذِّئْبُ وَأَنتُمْ عَنْهُ غَافِلُونَ.(13)
[Jacob] said, “Indeed, it saddens me that you should take him, and I fear that a wolf would eat him while you are of him unaware”(13).
Prophet Yaqoub [AS] (The Father Of Prophet Yusuf [AS]) Said: “I’m Disheartened & Discouraged That You – His Brothers – Should Escort
Prophet Yusuf [AS] With You, Fearing That You Would Be Oblivious & Unaware While A Wolf Might Devour Him.
قَالُوا لَئِنْ أَكَلَهُ الذِّئْبُ وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌ إِنَّا إِذًا لَّخَاسِرُونَ.(14)
They said, “If a wolf should eat him while we are a [strong] clan, indeed, we would then be losers” (14).
They Replied, If The Wolf Devoured Him While We Are While We Are A Clique Or A Clan Then, We Would Then Be Obvious Losers.
فَلَمَّا ذَهَبُوا بِهِ وَأَجْمَعُوا أَن يَجْعَلُوهُ فِي غَيَابَتِ الْجُبِّ ۚ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ لَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُم بِأَمْرِهِمْ هَٰذَا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ.(15)
So when they took him [out] and agreed to put him into the bottom of the well… But We inspired to him, “You will surely inform them [someday] about this affair of theirs while they do not perceive [your identity]” (15).
Therefore, When His Brothers Agreed To Locate Prophet Yusuf [AS] At The Bottom Of A Well, We (SWT) Thus Inspired, Motivated & Encouraged Prophet Yusuf [AS] To Inform His Brothers:” Of Their Action, While They Do Not Know Your Identity Verification”.
وَجَاءُوا أَبَاهُمْ عِشَاءً يَبْكُونَ.(16)
And they came to their father at night, weeping (16).
At Evening Time The Brothers Of Prophet Yusuf [AS] Came To Their Father Crying & Weeping.
قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا إِنَّا ذَهَبْنَا نَسْتَبِقُ وَتَرَكْنَا يُوسُفَ عِندَ مَتَاعِنَا فَأَكَلَهُ الذِّئْبُ ۖ وَمَا أَنتَ بِمُؤْمِنٍ لَّنَا وَلَوْ كُنَّا صَادِقِينَ.(17)
They said, “O our father, indeed we went racing each other and left Joseph with our possessions, and a wolf ate him. But you would not believe us, even if we were truthful” (17).
They Said: Oh Our Father, We Went Racing Leaving Prophet Yusuf [AS] At Our Food & Possessions And The Wolf Devoured Him. However, You Would Not Believe Us, Even Though We Are Telling The Truth.
وَجَاءُوا عَلَىٰ قَمِيصِهِ بِدَمٍ كَذِبٍ ۚ قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا ۖ فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ ۖ وَاللَّهُ الْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ.(18)
And they brought upon his shirt false blood. [Jacob] said, “Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. And Allah is the one sought for help against that which you describe” (18).
The Brothers Of Prophet Yusuf [AS] Stained His Shirt With False Blood. Prophet Yaqoub [AS] Said:” You Have Tempted & Beguiled Yourselves Into A “Made Up Tale” Which May Pass With You. As For Me Patience Is Most Fitting; Against That Which You Assert. It Allah (SWT) Alone Whose Help Can Be Sought.
وَجَاءَتْ سَيَّارَةٌ فَأَرْسَلُوا وَارِدَهُمْ فَأَدْلَىٰ دَلْوَهُ ۖ قَالَ يَا بُشْرَىٰ هَٰذَا غُلَامٌ ۚ وَأَسَرُّوهُ بِضَاعَةً ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ.(19)
And there came a company of travelers; then they sent their water drawer, and he let down his bucket. He said, “Good news! Here is a boy.” And they concealed him, [taking him] as merchandise; and Allah was knowing of what they did (19).
And A Caravan Passed By. They Sent Down Their Pales And Buckets Aiming To Collect Drinking Water. The Pale Man Said In Surprise:” This Is A Young Man Whom They Concealed As Merchandise. And Allah (SWT) Was Knowledgeable Of Their Action.
وَشَرَوْهُ بِثَمَنٍ بَخْسٍ دَرَاهِمَ مَعْدُودَةٍ وَكَانُوا فِيهِ مِنَ الزَّاهِدِينَ.(20)
And they sold him for a reduced price – a few dirhams – and they were, concerning him, of those content with little (20).
And Prophet Yusuf [AS]’s Brethren Sold Him For A Deplorable & Meager Price; For A Few Darahim & They Were Amongst The “Ascetics” Concerning Him.
وَقَالَ الَّذِي اشْتَرَاهُ مِن مِّصْرَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ أَكْرِمِي مَثْوَاهُ عَسَىٰ أَن يَنفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلِنُعَلِّمَهُ مِن تَأْوِيلِ الْأَحَادِيثِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَىٰ أَمْرِهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ.(21)
And the one from Egypt who bought him said to his wife, “Make his residence comfortable. Perhaps he will benefit us, or we will adopt him as a son.” And thus, We established Joseph in the land that We might teach him the interpretation of events. And Allah is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know (21).
And The (Merchant Who Was The Treasury Minister Of The King Of Egypt) Purchased Prophet Yusuf [AS] Saying To His Wife:”Make The Residence Of Prophet Yusuf [AS] As Comfortable & Honorable As Possible. Maybe He Will Be Beneficial To Us Or We Shall Adopt Him As A Son [The Minister & His Wife Were Unable To Have A Child].
And Therefore, We (SWT) Confirmed & Affirmed Prophet Yusuf [AS] In The Earth, Teaching Him Elucidation, Interpretation And The Clarification Of Dreams & Events. And Allah (SWT) Is The Preponderant & Prevalent Over His Affairs (SWT). However, Most Humankind Are Unaware.
وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ آتَيْنَاهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي ْالمُحْسِنِينَ.(22)
And when Joseph reached maturity, We gave him judgment and knowledge. And thus We reward the doers of good (22).
Upon Attaining His Manhood, We (SWT) Granted Prophet Yusuf [AS] The Ability Of Knowledge & Judgement. Hence We (SWT) Recompense The Righteous Of Our Servants.
وَرَاوَدَتْهُ الَّتِي هُوَ فِي بَيْتِهَا عَن نَّفْسِهِ وَغَلَّقَتِ الْأَبْوَابَ وَقَالَتْ هَيْتَ لَكَ ۚ قَالَ مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ رَبِّي أَحْسَنَ مَثْوَايَ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ الظَّالِمُونَ.(23)
And she, in whose house he was, sought to seduce him. She closed the doors and said, “Come, you.” He said, “[I seek] the refuge of Allah. Indeed, he is my master, who has made good my residence. Indeed, wrongdoers will not succeed” (23).
And The Woman Whom Prophet Yusuf [AS] Was A Guest At The House Of The Treasury Minister Approached Him Seeking Prophet Yusuf [AS]’s Seduction. She Locked The Doors Saying:” Come To Me; He Replied:” Allah (SWT) Forbid. He Is My True Lord Who Made My Stay At Your Residence [At The Treasury Minister] Decent & Honorable. Verily, Those Unjust Shall Not Succeed.
وَلَقَدْ هَمَّتْ بِهِ ۖ وَهَمَّ بِهَا لَوْلَا أَن رَّأَىٰ بُرْهَانَ رَبِّهِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنَصْرِفَ عَنْهُ السُّوءَ وَالْفَحْشَاءَ ۚ إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُخْلَصِينَ.(24)
And she certainly determined [to seduce] him, and he would have inclined to her had he not seen the proof of his Lord. And thus [it was] that We should avert from him evil and immorality. Indeed, he was of Our chosen servants.
And With Passion Did She Desire Him, And He Would Have Surrendered To Her Enticement, Had Prophet Yusuf [AS] Not Seen The Verification, Evidence & Demonstration From Allah (SWT). And So It Was Ordained By Allah (SWT) That Prophet Yusuf [AS] Should Be Prevented & Turned Away From Debauchery & Fornication. Verily, He Was Amongst Our Honorable & Sincere Servants.
وَاسْتَبَقَا الْبَابَ وَقَدَّتْ قَمِيصَهُ مِن دُبُرٍ وَأَلْفَيَا سَيِّدَهَا لَدَى الْبَابِ ۚ قَالَتْ مَا جَزَاءُ مَنْ أَرَادَ بِأَهْلِكَ سُوءًا إِلَّا أَن يُسْجَنَ أَوْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ.(25)
And they both raced to the door, and she tore his shirt from the back, and they found her husband at the door. She said, “What is the recompense of one who intended evil for your wife but that he be imprisoned or a painful punishment” (25).
Despite His Sincerity To Allah (SWT), The Wife Of The Merchant Insisted On Pursuing Her Seduction & Temptation, Both Racing To The Locked Door Of Her House. She Complained To Her Husband:” What Is The Reparation & Compensation Of The One Who Meant & Contemplated Harm To Your Wife, Except Being Imprisoned Or Painful Torment??
قَالَ هِيَ رَاوَدَتْنِي عَن نَّفْسِي ۚ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِهَا إِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُ قُدَّ مِن قُبُلٍ فَصَدَقَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ.(26)
[Joseph] said, “It was she who sought to seduce me.” And a witness from her family testified. “If his shirt is torn from the front, then she has told the truth, and he is of the liars (26).
Prophet Yusuf [AS] Said: ”She (The Wife Of The Egyptian Treasury Minister Named: Al Azeez In The Glorious Qur’an) Aimed To Seduce Me From My True Self”! And A Male Witness From Her Household Saw This Act And Bore Witness; If Prophet Yusuf [AS]’s Shirt Was Torn From The Front, Then She Had Told The Truth And He Is Amongst The Liars.
وَإِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٍ فَكَذَبَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ.(27)
But if his shirt is torn from the back, then she has lied, and he is of the truthful.”(27).
However, If His Shirt Was Torn From The Back, Then She Had Lied And He Is Amongst The Honest & Sincere.
فَلَمَّا رَأَىٰ قَمِيصَهُ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٍ قَالَ إِنَّهُ مِن كَيْدِكُنَّ ۖ إِنَّ كَيْدَكُنَّ عَظِيمٌ.(28)
So when her husband saw his shirt torn from the back, he said, “Indeed, it is of the women’s plan. Indeed, your plan is great (28).
But Once Her Husband (Al Azeez Of Egypt) Saw Prophet Yusuf [AS]’s Shirt Torn From The Rear, He Said: “Verily It Is The Women’s Machination & Plotting”. Verily,” Your Machination & Plotting” Is Mighty, Substantial, Significant & Exceptional.
يُوسُفُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَٰذَا ۚ وَاسْتَغْفِرِي لِذَنبِكِ ۖ إِنَّكِ كُنتِ مِنَ الْخَاطِئِينَ.(29)
Joseph, ignore this. And, [my wife], ask forgiveness for your sin. Indeed, you were of the sinful”(29).
Al Azeez Of Egypt’ Told Prophet Yusuf [AS] To Ignore & Disregard This Incident. And You,” My Wife Plead For Pardon & Exoneration For The Act Of Sin You Perpetrated”. Verily, You Were Amongst The Sinful.
وَقَالَ نِسْوَةٌ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ امْرَأَتُ الْعَزِيزِ تُرَاوِدُ فَتَاهَا عَن نَّفْسِهِ ۖ قَدْ شَغَفَهَا حُبًّا ۖ إِنَّا لَنَرَاهَا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ.(30)
And women in the city said, “The wife of al-‘Azeez is seeking to seduce her slave boy; he has impassioned her with love. Indeed, we see her [to be] in clear error” (30).
And Women In The City Of Al Azeez Said: “The Wife Of Al Azeez Is Aiming To Entice & Debauch Her Serf & Thrall. Prophet Yusuf [AS] Embroiled Her With Compassion. Verily, We (SWT) See Her In True Aberrance.
فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتْ بِمَكْرِهِنَّ أَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَعْتَدَتْ لَهُنَّ مُتَّكَأً وَآتَتْ كُلَّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِّنْهُنَّ سِكِّينًا وَقَالَتِ اخْرُجْ عَلَيْهِنَّ ۖ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَهُ أَكْبَرْنَهُ وَقَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ وَقُلْنَ حَاشَ لِلَّهِ مَا هَٰذَا بَشَرًا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ.(31)
So when she heard of their scheming, she sent for them and prepared for them a banquet and gave each one of them a knife and said [to Joseph], “Come out before them.” And when they saw him, they greatly admired him and cut their hands and said, “Perfect is Allah! This is not a man; this is none but a noble angel” (31).
Thus When She Heard Of Their Malicious Cunning She Summoned Them And Prepared For Them A Celebration Show & Giving Each Of Her Invitees a Knife And Told Prophet Yusuf [AS] To Appear Before Them. Upon Seeing Him, They Extolled & Glorified Him & In Amazement Cut Their Hands Saying:” Allah (SWT) Has The Perfection. This Mortal [Prophet Yusuf [AS]] Is But A Noble & Righteous Angle.
قَالَتْ فَذَٰلِكُنَّ الَّذِي لُمْتُنَّنِي فِيهِ ۖ وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدتُّهُ عَن نَّفْسِهِ فَاسْتَعْصَمَ ۖ وَلَئِن لَّمْ يَفْعَلْ مَا آمُرُهُ لَيُسْجَنَنَّ وَلَيَكُونًا مِّنَ الصَّاغِرِينَ.(32)
She said, “That is the one about whom you blamed me. And I certainly sought to seduce him, but he firmly refused; and if he will not do what I order him, he will surely be imprisoned and will be of those debased” (32)
She Replied:” He Is The One Whom You Blame & Reprimand Me About. And I Definitely Sought To Seduce Him, However, He Categorically Rejected My Seduction, Temptation & Allure. And If He Does Not Comply To My Enticement & Temptation, I Shall Plan A Scheme To Have Him Imprisoned & Become Amongst The Submissive.
قَالَ رَبِّ السِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِي إِلَيْهِ ۖ وَإِلَّا تَصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُنَّ أَصْبُ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَكُن مِّنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ(33).
He said, “My Lord, prison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me to. And if You do not avert from me their plan, I might incline toward them and [thus] be of the ignorant.” (33)
Prophet Yusuf [AS] Said: Oh Allah (SWT) Prison Which She (The Wife Of Al Azeez) Promised Me With Is More Inviting To What They Call Me To Perpetrate And Therefore Be Amongst The Unknowledgeable & Ignorant!
فَاسْتَجَابَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ فَصَرَفَ عَنْهُ كَيْدَهُنَّ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ.(34)
Thus His Lord (SWT) responded to Prophet Yusuf [AS] and averted him from their plan. Indeed, He (SWT) is The All Hearing, The All Knowing (34).
And Hence Allah (SWT) Responded To The Du’a Of Prophet Yusuf [AS] & Prevented & Worded Off Their Cunning Plan From Him. Verily, He (SWT) Is The All Hearing, The All Knowledgeable.
ثمَّ بَدَا لَهُم مِّن بَعْدِ مَا رَأَوُا الْآيَاتِ لَيَسْجُنُنَّهُ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ.(35)
Then it appeared to them after they had seen the signs that al-‘Azeez should surely imprison him for a time (35).
Subsequently, All The Ayat Appeared Proving The Innocence & Honor of Prophet Yusuf [AS]. These Ayat Were: “The Tearing Of Prophet Yusuf [AS]’s Shirt From The Back “; The Testament Of The Witness; And Cutting Of The Hands Of The Woman Invitees To The Azeez’s Wife. Despite These Clear Manifestations Of His Innocence, Prophet Yusuf [AS] Was Imprisoned By The Orders Of Al Azeez To Keep His Wife From Approaching Prophet Yusuf [AS] Again.
وَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ السِّجْنَ فَتَيَانِ ۖ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا إِنِّي أَرَانِي أَعْصِرُ خَمْرًا ۖ وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ إِنِّي أَرَانِي أَحْمِلُ فَوْقَ رَأْسِي خُبْزًا تَأْكُلُ الطَّيْرُ مِنْهُ ۖ نَبِّئْنَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِ ۖ إِنَّا نَرَاكَ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ.(36)
And there entered the prison with him two young men. One of them said, “Indeed, I have seen myself [in a dream] pressing wine.” The other said, “Indeed, I have seen myself carrying upon my head [some] bread, from which the birds were eating. Inform us of its interpretation; indeed, we see you to be of those who do good.”(36).
Accompanying Prophet Yusuf [AS] In Prison Were Two Young Men Working For The Azeez Who Were Jailed For Their Betrayal To His Service. Both Asked Prophet Yusuf [AS] About His “Prophetic Vision” While Inside Their Incarceration. One Told Prophet Yusuf [AS] Of His Dream In Which He Describes Himself As “Squashing” Vine To Obtain Wine. While The Other Described His Dream To Prophet Yusuf [AS] As Carrying Dry Bread On His Head From Which Birds Land To Eat. Both Young Men Asked Prophet Yusuf [AS] To Explain & Elucidate Their Dreams Through His Noble, Dignified & Esteemed Prophetic Knowledge.
قَالَ لَا يَأْتِيكُمَا طَعَامٌ تُرْزَقَانِهِ إِلَّا نَبَّأْتُكُمَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِ قَبْلَ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمَا ۚ ذَلِكُمَا مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِي رَبِّي ۚ إِنِّي تَرَكْتُ مِلَّةَ قَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَهُم بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ كَافِرُونَ.(37)
He said, “You will not receive food that is provided to you except that I will inform you of its interpretation before it comes to you. That is from what my Lord has taught me. Indeed, I have left the religion of a people who do not believe in Allah, and they, in the Hereafter, are disbelievers (37).
Prophet Yusuf [AS] Replied:” Both Of You Shall Not Receive Daily Sustenance, Only That Which I Reveal To You Before You Receive It. That Is From What Allah (SWT) Has Bestowed Upon Me [From His Grace & Mercy (SWT)]. I Have Migrated From A People [The Egyptians] Who Are Blasphemous And Shall Meet Allah (SWT) In The Hereafter As Disbelievers.
وَاتَّبَعْتُ مِلَّةَ آبَائِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۚ مَا كَانَ لَنَا أَن نُّشْرِكَ بِاللَّهِ مِن شَيْءٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مِن فَضْلِ اللَّهِ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى النَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ.(38)
And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And it was not for us to associate anything with Allah. That is from the favor of Allah upon us and upon the people, but most of the people are not grateful (38).
And I (Prophet Yusuf [AS]) Obeyed & Imitated My Forefathers: Ibraheem [AS], Iss’haq [AS] & Ya’qoub [AS]. None Of Us Blasphemed And Associated Anything With Allah (SWT). This Is But Graciousness, Auspices & Patronage From Allah (SWT) Towards His Believers Through Faith & Monotheism And By Dispatching Prophets & Messengers To Guide Them To The Truth Of Creation & The Existence Of The One & Only Creator. However, Most Humankind Are Not Thankful & Ungrateful.
يَا صَاحِبَيِ السِّجْنِ أَأَرْبَابٌ مُّتَفَرِّقُونَ خَيْرٌ أَمِ اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ
الْقَهَّار؟(39).
O [my] two companions of prison, are separate lords better or Allah (SWT), (the One & Only, Prevailing (? (39).
Oh My Two Prison Compatriots, Are Separate Gods [Which You Are Taking As Idols – Holding In Your Hands Preferable & Better] Than Allah (SWT) – The One & Only Creator – With His Prevailing Predominance (SWT)?
مَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِهِ إِلَّا أَسْمَاءً سَمَّيْتُمُوهَا أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُم مَّا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَانٍ ۚ إِنِ الْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ ۚ أَمَرَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ.(40)
You worship not besides Him except [mere] names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. Legislation is not but for Allah. He has commanded that you worship not except Him. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know (40).
What You [My Two Compatriots] Worship Other Than Allah (SWT) Are But Names Which You & Your Forefathers Have No Jurisdiction, Command, Control, Mastery & Sovereignty Of. ALL QUALITIES BELONG EXCLUSIVLEY TO ALLAH (SWT), THE ONE & ONLY CREATOR OF THE WORLD, THE HEAVENS & HUMANKIND.
يَا صَاحِبَيِ السِّجْنِ أَمَّا أَحَدُكُمَا فَيَسْقِي رَبَّهُ خَمْرًا ۖ وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَيُصْلَبُ فَتَأْكُلُ الطَّيْرُ مِن رَّأْسِهِ ۚ قُضِيَ الْأَمْرُ الَّذِي فِيهِ تَسْتَفْتِيَانِ.(41)
O two companions of prison, as for one of you, he will give drink to his master of wine; but as for the other, he will be crucified, and the birds will eat from his head. The matter has been decreed about which you both inquire.” (41).
My Two Prison Compatriots, While One Of You Provides Al Azeez’ With Wine, The Other Shall Be “Hung From A Cross” Until Death & Birds Will Pick Food From His Head. This Is A Commandment Proclaimed By Allah (SWT) For Which Both Of You Pose The Question About.
وَقَالَ لِلَّذِي ظَنَّ أَنَّهُ نَاجٍ مِّنْهُمَا اذْكُرْنِي عِندَ رَبِّكَ فَأَنسَاهُ الشَّيْطَانُ ذِكْرَ رَبِّهِ فَلَبِثَ فِي السِّجْنِ بِضْعَ سِنِينَ .(42)
And he said to the one whom he knew would go free, “Mention me before your master.” But Satan made him forget the mention [to] his master, and Joseph remained in prison several years (42).
And Prophet Yusuf [AS] Told The One Who Would Be Set Free From His Imprisonment, Remind & Admonish Me To The Pharaoh (King) Of Egypt. However, Al Shaytan Made His Prison Compatriot Forget. And So Prophet Yusuf [AS] Dwelled In Prison For A Number Of Years (3 To 9).
وَقَالَ الْمَلِكُ إِنِّي أَرَىٰ سَبْعَ بَقَرَاتٍ سِمَانٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَافٌ وَسَبْعَ سُنبُلَاتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَاتٍ ۖ يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَلَأُ أَفْتُونِي فِي رُؤْيَايَ إِن كُنتُمْ لِلرُّؤْيَا تَعْبُرُونَ.(43)
And [subsequently] the king said, “Indeed, I have seen [in a dream] seven fat cows being eaten by seven [that were] lean, and seven green spikes [of grain] and others [that were] dry. O eminent ones, explain to me my vision, if you should interpret visions”(43).
And The Pharaoh Later Said:” I Have Seen A Vision (In My Sleep) Of Seven Obese Cows Being Eaten By Seven Skinny & Scraggy Cows. I Also Saw Seven Green Wheat Spurs Along With Seven Dry Wheat Ones Turning Green. Oh Distinguished, Renowned & Esteemed Followers Grant Me Your Elucidation To My Vision If You Are Able To.
قَالُوا أَضْغَاثُ أَحْلَامٍ ۖ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَأْوِيلِ الْأَحْلَامِ بِعَالِمِين(44).
They said, “[It is but] a mixture of false dreams, and we are not learned in the interpretation of dreams”(44).
The Followers Of The Pharaoh Replied:” These Are False Visions, Or The Whispers Of Al Shaytan To Your Soul”, And We Are Unexperienced In This Domain Of Knowledge. They Meant To Alleviate All Of These “Suspicions” From The Pharaoh’s Mind & Chest.
وَقَالَ الَّذِي نَجَا مِنْهُمَا وَادَّكَرَ بَعْدَ أُمَّةٍ أَنَا أُنَبِّئُكُم بِتَأْوِيلِهِ فَأَرْسِلُونِ.(45)
But the one who was freed and remembered after a time said, “I will inform you of its interpretation, so send me forth.”(45).
And So The Saved Prison Compatriot Who Remembered After Sometime Said:” I Shall Reveal To The Pharaoh What His “True Vision” Reveals After I Enquire From Prophet Yusuf [AS] Of His Interpretation Of The Vision, So Give Me Permission To Expose The Whole Matter To Yusuf [AS]. Thus The Pharaoh & His Followers Would Know Prophet Yusuf’s [AS] Capability & Art Of “Vision Revelation”.
يُوسُفُ أَيُّهَا الصِّدِّيقُ أَفْتِنَا فِي سَبْعِ بَقَرَاتٍ سِمَانٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَافٌ وَسَبْعِ سُنبُلَاتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَاتٍ لَّعَلِّي أَرْجِعُ إِلَى النَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ.(46)
[He said], “Joseph, O man of truth, explain to us about seven fat cows eaten by seven [that were] lean, and seven green spikes [of grain] and others [that were] dry – that I may return to the people; perhaps they will know [about you]”(46).
Oh Yusuf [AS] Prophet Of Reality, Truth & Vision, Give Me Your Explanation Of Seven Obese Cows Being Eaten By Seven Skinny & Scraggy Cows And Seven Green Wheat Spurs Along With Seven Dry Wheat Ones Turning Green. And So Whatever You Happen To “Reveal”, I Will Deliver To The Pharaoh & His Followers. Thus They Shall Be Aware Of Your Eminence & Transcendence In Vision Revelation.
قَالَ تَزْرَعُونَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ دَأَبًا فَمَا حَصَدتُّمْ فَذَرُوهُ فِي سُنبُلِهِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ.(47)
[Joseph] said, “You will plant for seven years consecutively; and what you harvest leave in its spikes, except a little from which you will eat (47).
Prophet Yusuf [AS] Replied:” You Will Implant & Cultivate For Seven Years One After The Other Without Interruption, Leaving The Green Grain In Its Spurs With The Exception Of What You Consume.
ثمَّ يَأْتِي مِن بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ سَبْعٌ شِدَادٌ يَأْكُلْنَ مَا قَدَّمْتُمْ لَهُنَّ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّمَّا تُحْصِنُونَ(48).
Then will come after that seven difficult [years] which will consume what you saved for them, except a little from which you will store (48).
Subsequent To These Seven Years, There Will Be A Period Of Seven Years In Which The Growth Is Infertile & Sterile With The Exception Of A Small Quantity Which Was Kept In Storage For People’s Consumption.
ثمَّ يَأْتِي مِن بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ عَامٌ فِيهِ يُغَاثُ النَّاسُ وَفِيهِ يَعْصِرُونَ(49).
Then will come after that a year in which the people will be given rain and in which they will press [olives and grapes] (49).
Following This, Arrives A Year Whereby Egyptians Are Relieved By The Flooding Of The Nile. Thus Resulting (According To Prophet Yusuf’s [AS] Vision With Enormous Amounts Of Nile Flood Water Rather Than Rainwater. The People Of Egypt During That Year Were Relieved & Proceeded To Crush & Squeeze Grape Vine, Olives & Sesame Seeds.
وَقَالَ الْمَلِكُ ائْتُونِي بِهِ ۖ فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُ الرَّسُولُ قَالَ ارْجِعْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَاسْأَلْهُ مَا بَالُ النِّسْوَةِ اللَّاتِي قَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي بِكَيْدِهِنَّ عَلِيمٌ.(50)
And the king said, “Bring him to me.” But when the messenger came to him, [Joseph] said, “Return to your master and ask him what is the case of the women who cut their hands. Indeed, my Lord is Knowledgeable of their plan” (50).
And The Pharaoh Ordered His People To Bring Prophet Yusuf [AS] Before Him And To See & Know Prophet Yusuf [AS]’ Capability & Art Of “Vision Revelation”.
However, Upon Calling To Prophet Yusuf [AS] To Be Summoned Before The Pharaoh, He Replied:” Return To Your Master And Ask Him Why Did The Malicious Cunning Woman Invitees Of The Merchant’s Wife Cut Their Hands? Prophet [AS] Did Not Take Advantage And Leave His Imprisonment. This Was Because He Wanted To Prove His Innocence, Patience & Forbearance.
قَالَ مَا خَطْبُكُنَّ إِذْ رَاوَدتُّنَّ يُوسُفَ عَن نَّفْسِهِ ۚ قُلْنَ حَاشَ لِلَّهِ مَا عَلِمْنَا عَلَيْهِ مِن سُوءٍ ۚ قَالَتِ امْرَأَتُ الْعَزِيزِ الْآنَ حَصْحَصَ الْحَقُّ أَنَا رَاوَدتُّهُ عَن نَّفْسِهِ وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنَ الصَّادِقِين.(51)
Said [the king to the women], “What was your condition when you sought to seduce Joseph?” They said, “Perfect is Allah! We know about him no evil.” The wife of al-‘Azeez said, “Now the truth has become evident. It was I who sought to seduce him, and indeed, he is of the truthful (51).
The Pharaoh Enquired From The Invitee Women Of The Wife Of The Merchant: “What Was Your Intention When You Endeavoured To Enchant & Entice Prophet Yusuf [AS]? They Responded:” May Allah (SWT) Forbid. We Know Of No Wrong Doing On His Part”. At That Instant In Time The Wife Of Al Azeez Said:” The Unequivocal Truth Has Surfaced, I Seduced Prophet Yusuf [AS] And He Is Innocent & Amongst The “Honest”.
ذَٰلِكَ لِيَعْلَمَ أَنِّي لَمْ أَخُنْهُ بِالْغَيْبِ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي كَيْدَ الْخَائِنِينَ.(52)
That is so al-‘Azeez will know that I did not betray him in [his] absence and that Allah does not guide the plan of betrayers (52).
This Was The Reply Of Prophet Yusuf [AS] Reassuring Al Azeez That He (Prophet Yusuf) Did Not Betray Or Deceive Al Azeez With His Wife During The Absence Of The Latter. Verily Allah (SWT) Leaves Those Betrayers Without Guidance.
وَمَا أُبَرِّئُ نَفْسِي ۚ إِنَّ النَّفْسَ لَأَمَّارَةٌ بِالسُّوءِ إِلَّا مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّي ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ.(53)
And I do not acquit myself. Indeed, the soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil, except those upon which my Lord has mercy. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful “(53).
And I (The Wife Of Al Azeez) Do Not Absolve or Exonerate Myself From This Action Of Mine. Verily The Human Soul Is Inclined Towards Enjoining Sin & Immorality, Only Those Whom Allah (SWT) Endowed With Grace & Mercy.
Indeed, Allah (SWT) Is The Ultimate Forgiver Of Sins & Is The Owner Of Mercy To All Humankind.
وَقَالَ الْمَلِكُ ائْتُونِي بِهِ أَسْتَخْلِصْهُ لِنَفْسِي ۖ فَلَمَّا كَلَّمَهُ قَالَ إِنَّكَ الْيَوْمَ لَدَيْنَا مَكِينٌ أَمِين(54).
And the king said, “Bring him to me; I will appoint him exclusively for myself.” And when he spoke to him, he said, “Indeed, you are today established [in position] and trusted”(54).
The Pharaoh Ordered His Followers To Summon Prophet Yusuf [AS] Before Him With The Intention Of Assigning Him To The Pharaoh’s Service. And When The Pharaoh Spoke To Prophet Yusuf [AS], Assured Him That Prophet Yusuf [AS] Shall Be Entrusted With An Indispensable & Essential Position.
قَالَ اجْعَلْنِي عَلَىٰ خَزَائِنِ الْأَرْضِ ۖ إِنِّي حَفِيظٌ عَلِيمٌ.(55)
[Joseph] said, “Appoint me over the storehouses of the land. Indeed, I will be a knowing guardian”(55).
Prophet Yusuf [AS] Said To The Pharaoh: “Nominate & Designate Me To Be Entrusted Over The Riches Of The Land. Indeed, I Shall Be A Learned Guardian & Preserver.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَتَبَوَّأُ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ يَشَاءُ ۚ نُصِيبُ بِرَحْمَتِنَا مَن نَّشَاءُ ۖ وَلَا نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ.(56)
And thus We established Joseph in the land to settle therein wherever he willed. We touch with Our mercy whom We will, and We do not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good (56).
And Hence We (SWT) Accepted & Established Prophet Yusuf [AS] On Earth To Settle (On Land) Wherever He Desired & Willed. We (SWT) Target With Our Mercy Whomever We Will. And We (SWT) Shall Not Dissipate The Reward & Recompense Of The Benefactors.
وَلَأَجْرُ الْآخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَكَانُوا يَتَّقُونَ.(57)
And the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believed and were fearing Allah (57).
And The Reward & Recompense Of Those Who Are Conscious & Observant Of Allah (SWT) In The Hereafter Is Preferable & Superior.
وَجَاءَ إِخْوَةُ يُوسُفَ فَدَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَعَرَفَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُ مُنكِرُونَ.(58)
And the brothers of Joseph came [seeking food], and they entered upon him; and he recognized them, but he was to them unknown (58).
And Prophet Yusuf [AS]’s Brothers Arrived From The Land Of Kanaan To Egypt Asking Him For Food. He Was Unknown To Them Since They Departed Egypt While.
He Was A Young Boy. However, He Recognized Them While They Did Not Acknowledge Him As Their Young Brother.
وَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمْ قَالَ ائْتُونِي بِأَخٍ لَّكُم مِّنْ أَبِيكُمْ ۚ أَلَا تَرَوْنَ أَنِّي أُوفِي الْكَيْلَ وَأَنَا خَيْرُ الْمُنزِلِينَ.(59)
And when he had furnished them with their supplies, he said, “Bring me a brother of yours from your father. Do not you see that I give full measure and that I am the best of accommodators? (59).
And Upon Supplying His Travelling Brothers With Provisions & Rations, He Requested Them To Summon Their Youngest Brother (From Their Father & Mother) Ben Yameen: Saying That “Are You Not Aware That I Equip, Provide & Accommodate The Best Arrangements & Compromises”.
فَإِن لَّمْ تَأْتُونِي بِهِ فَلَا كَيْلَ لَكُمْ عِندِي وَلَا تَقْرَبُونِ.(60)
But if you do not bring him to me, no measure will there be [hereafter] for you from me, nor will you approach me.”(60).
However, “If You (Being Their Brother) Do Not Summon Ben Yameen [AS] To (Me) Prophet Yusuf [AS] Said: “ You Shall No Longer Have A Measure (Of Rations & Provisions) With Me, Nor Shall You Approach Me “.
قَالُوا سَنُرَاوِدُ عَنْهُ أَبَاهُ وَإِنَّا لَفَاعِلُونَ.(61)
They said, “We will attempt to dissuade his father from [keeping] him, and indeed, we will do [it].”
Ben Yameen’s Brothers Replied To Prophet Yusuf [AS]:” We Shall Convince Our Father Through Deception & Lying From Holding Him Back In The Safeguard Of Their Father “.
وَقَالَ لِفِتْيَانِهِ اجْعَلُوا بِضَاعَتَهُمْ فِي رِحَالِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُونَهَا إِذَا انقَلَبُوا
إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ.(62)
And [Joseph] said to his servants, “Put their merchandise into their saddlebags so they might recognize it when they have gone back to their people that perhaps they will [again] return.”(62).
And Prophet Yusuf [AS] Commanded His Servants And Attendants: “To Stash (Back) Into Their Saddlebags Their Merchandise, Goods & Commodities Which They Arrived With (From The Land Of Kanaan) So That They Might Recognize & Identify Their Merchandise And Hence They Might Return Back To Egypt Without Being Accused Of Stealing & Looting.
فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوا إِلَىٰ أَبِيهِمْ قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا مُنِعَ مِنَّا الْكَيْلُ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا أَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ.(63)
So when they returned to their father, they said, “O our father, [further] measure has been denied to us, so send with us our brother [that] we will be given measure. And indeed, we will be his guardians” (63).
Upon Arriving To Their Father Ya’koub [AS] They Said: “Oh Father, We Were Denied & Refused Future (Grain) Measures”. Thus Permit Us To Escort Ben Yameen [AS] With Us Back To Egypt So That We Would End Up Getting New Proportions Of Grain And We All Promise To Safeguard Him.
قَالَ هَلْ آمَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا كَمَا أَمِنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَخِيهِ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ فَاللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَافِظًا ۖ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ.(64)
He said, “Should I entrust you with him except [under coercion] as I entrusted you with his brother before? But Allah is the best guardian, and He is the most merciful of the merciful “(64).
Prophet Ya’koub [AS] Responded: “Should I Give Responsibility Of Your Young Brother Ben Yameen [AS] Collectively To All Of You (To Take Care Of Him On Your Journey Back To Egypt) As I Entrusted You With His Brother Yusuf [AS] Previously? Behold, Allah (SWT) Is The One & Only Custodian, Protector & Merciful Of All Humankind.
وَلَمَّا فَتَحُوا مَتَاعَهُمْ وَجَدُوا بِضَاعَتَهُمْ رُدَّتْ إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا مَا نَبْغِي ۖ هَٰذِهِ بِضَاعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْنَا ۖ وَنَمِيرُ أَهْلَنَا وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِيرٍ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ كَيْلٌ يَسِيرٌ.(65)
And when they opened their baggage, they found their merchandise returned to them. They said, “O our father, what [more] could we desire? This is our merchandise returned to us. And we will obtain supplies for our family and protect our brother and obtain an increase of a camel’s load; that is an easy measurement” (65).
Upon Opening Their Returned Merchandise, Goods And Commodities (From Egypt) They Were Surprised That Everything Was Returned Untouched. They Said:” Oh Father, What More Can We Wish For From The King Of Egypt And His Generosity & Magnanimity? Hence, If You Allow Us To Have Our Young Brother Ben Yameen [AS] Accompany Us In Our Journey Back To Egypt Seeking Further Food Supplies & An Extra Camel Back (Measure) Of Sustenance & Subsistence.
قَالَ لَنْ أُرْسِلَهُ مَعَكُمْ حَتَّىٰ تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقًا مِّنَ اللَّهِ لَتَأْتُنَّنِي بِهِ إِلَّا أَن يُحَاطَ بِكُمْ ۖ فَلَمَّا آتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ.(66)
[Jacob] said, “Never will I send him with you until you give me a promise by Allah that you will bring him [back] to me, unless you should be surrounded by enemies.” And when they had given their promise, he said, “Allah, over what we say, is Witness” (66).
Their Father Prophet Yak’oub [AS] Replied His Sons: “That He Would Not Under Any Circumstance Let Ben Yameen [AS] Join His Brothers To Their Journey Back To Egypt Unless All His Brothers Take An Honest Oath By Allah (SWT) That They Would Return Ben Yameen [AS] Back to His Father Yak’oub [AS] Unscathed & Unharmed From Any Possible Or Probable Threat To His Life. To This Act Which They Took An Oath By Allah (SWT), Prophet Yak’oub [AS] Said:” Allah (SWT) Shall Be Witnessing Over Our Oath To Him & He (SWT) Is Our Custodian & Witness”.
وَقَالَ يَا بَنِيَّ لَا تَدْخُلُوا مِن بَابٍ وَاحِدٍ وَادْخُلُوا مِنْ أَبْوَابٍ مُّتَفَرِّقَةٍ ۖ وَمَا أُغْنِي عَنكُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ مِن شَيْءٍ ۖ إِنِ الْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ ۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ ۖ وَعَلَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ.(67)
And he said, “O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against [the decree of] Allah at all. The decision is only for Allah; upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who would rely [indeed] rely”(67).
Prophet Yak’oub [AS] Ordered His Sons Once They Arrive To Egypt, Not To Enter From A Single Gate But Different Gates, Since He Was Unable To Aid
& Assist His Sons Including Ben Yameen [AS] But To Follow Their Father’s Advice Further. It Is Within The Commandments & Orders Of Allah (SWT) That Ben Yameen [AS] & His Brothers Would Be Safe Guarded From Evil.
وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَهُمْ أَبُوهُم مَّا كَانَ يُغْنِي عَنْهُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ مِن شَيْءٍ إِلَّا حَاجَةً فِي نَفْسِ يَعْقُوبَ قَضَاهَا ۚ وَإِنَّهُ لَذُو عِلْمٍ لِّمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ.(68)
And when they entered from where their father had ordered them, it did not avail them against Allah at all except [it was] a need within the soul of Jacob, which he satisfied. And indeed, he was a possessor of knowledge because of what We had taught him, but most of the people do not know (68).
Their Arrival In Egypt At Different Gates Did Not Benefit Or Assist Them From What Allah (SWT) Had Decreed Except For What Prophet Yak’oub [AS] Had In His Soul Which He Needed To Be Fulfilled.
وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ آوَىٰ إِلَيْهِ أَخَاهُ ۖ قَالَ إِنِّي أَنَا أَخُوكَ فَلَا تَبْتَئِسْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ.(69)
And when they entered upon Joseph, he took his brother to himself; he said, “Indeed, I am your brother, so do not despair over what they used to do [to me]” (69).
And Once They Entered To Meet Prophet Yusuf [AS], His Brother, Prophet Ben Yameen [AS], Was Receive & Harboured By His Eldest Brother Prophet Yusuf [AS] Who (Confidentially) Appeased Ben Yameen By Saying: “Behold, I Am Your Brother Yusuf [AS], Thus Do Not Distress & Despair With How They (The Other Brothers) Used To Treat Me.
فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمْ جَعَلَ السِّقَايَةَ فِي رَحْلِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ أَيَّتُهَا الْعِيرُ إِنَّكُمْ لَسَارِقُونَ.(70)
So when he had furnished them with their supplies, he put the [gold measuring] bowl into the bag of his brother. Then an announcer called out, “O caravan, indeed you are thieves” (70).
And So When Prophet Yusuf [AS], Stashed Into Ben Yameen’s [AS] Goods And Commodities Saddle Bag (The King’s Golden Measuring Bowl), An Announcer Declared: “You In The Caravan Are Robbers”.
قَالُوا وَأَقْبَلُوا عَلَيْهِم مَّاذَا تَفْقِدُونَ.(71)
They said while approaching them, “What is it you are missing?”(71).
Upon Approaching Prophet Yusuf [AS]’s Caravan, The King Of Egypt’s Guards Accused Them Of Stealing The King’s Golden Measuring Bowl.
قَالُوا نَفْقِدُ صُوَاعَ الْمَلِكِ وَلِمَن جَاءَ بِهِ حِمْلُ بَعِيرٍ وَأَنَا بِهِ زَعِيمٌ.(72)
They said, “We are missing the measure of the king. And for he who produces it is [the reward of] a camel’s load, and I am responsible for it”(72).
The King’s Golden Measuring Bowl Is Stolen And Whoever Unveils It Gets A Camel Back Measure Of Merchandise And I Shall Be His Guarantor & Voucher.
قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُم مَّا جِئْنَا لِنُفْسِدَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا كُنَّا سَارِقِينَ.(73)
They said, “By Allah, you have certainly known that we did not come to cause corruption in the land, and we have not been thieves.”(73).
The Caravan People Replied:” By Allah (SWT) You Have Come To Know That We Are Not Thieves Nor Seekers Of Corruption On Earth.
قَالُوا فَمَا جَزَاؤُهُ إِن كُنتُمْ كَاذِبِينَ.(74)
The accusers said, “Then what would be its recompense if you should be liars?” (74).
The King Of Egypt’s Men Said:” What Would Be His Reward If He Were A Fabricator Or A Liar”?
قَالُوا جَزَاؤُهُ مَن وُجِدَ فِي رَحْلِهِ فَهُوَ جَزَاؤُهُ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الظَّالِمِينَ.(75)
[The brothers] said, “Its recompense is that he in whose bag it is found – he [himself] will be its recompense. Thus do we recompense the wrong doers”(75).
Prophet Ben Yameen’s [AS]’s Brothers Replied:” He Who Has The Stolen King’s Golden Measuring Bowl Stashed In His Saddle Bag Shall Himself Be The Reward. And At The Time Of Prophet Yak’oub, The Thief Was Taken As A Slave For A Year At The Property Of The Kingdom. This Is How We Shall Indemnify & Compensate The Offenders & Perpetrators Of Illegal And Dishonest Behavior.
فَبَدَأَ بِأَوْعِيَتِهِمْ قَبْلَ وِعَاءِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ اسْتَخْرَجَهَا مِن وِعَاءِ أَخِيهِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كِدْنَا لِيُوسُفَ ۖ مَا كَانَ لِيَأْخُذَ أَخَاهُ فِي دِينِ الْمَلِكِ إِلَّا أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَاتٍ مَّن نَّشَاءُ ۗ وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِي عِلْمٍ عَلِيمٌ.(76)
So he began [the search] with their bags before the bag of his brother; then he extracted it from the bag of his brother. Thus did We plan for Joseph. He could not have taken his brother within the religion of the king except that Allah willed. We raise in degrees whom We will, but over every possessor of knowledge is one [more] knowing (76).
Prophet Yusuf [AS] Thus Started His Search Of His Ten Brothers Saddle Bags Before Extricating The King’s Golden Measuring Bowl From The Saddle Bag Of His Young Brother (From His Father & Mother) Prophet Ben Yameen [AS]. This Is How We (SWT) Plotted A Scheme To Save Ben Yameen [AS] From The Realm Of The Kingdom Of Egypt’s Monarchy Through Prophet Yusuf’s [AS] Wisdom, Cleverness & Ingenuity & With Allah (SWT)’s Willing. We (SWT) Shall Raise The Knowledgeable With Further Knowledge, While Allah (SWT) Is The Ultimate Proprietor & Possessor Of All Knowledge.
قَالُوا إِن يَسْرِقْ فَقَدْ سَرَقَ أَخٌ لَّهُ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُ فِي نَفْسِهِ وَلَمْ يُبْدِهَا لَهُمْ ۚ قَالَ أَنتُمْ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا ۖ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَصِفُونَ.(77)
They said, “If he steals – a brother of his has stolen before.” But Joseph kept it within himself and did not reveal it to them. He said, “You are worse in position, and Allah is most knowing of what you describe”(77).
All The Brothers Of Prophet Ben Yameen [AS] Collectively Confirmed: “That If He (Prophet Ben Yameen [AS]) Steals Then His Elder Brother (From His Parents) Prophet Yusuf [AS] Had Stolen Before (This Being The Incident Of Stealing, Breaking & Throwing Away A Golden Idol Statue Which Belonged To His Grandfather).
However, Prophet Yusuf [AS] Kept This (Untrue Allegation Of Stealing) To Himself Without Revealing To His Brothers. Prophet Yusuf [AS] Had Previously Accused His Brothers:” You Were In A More Evil Position Through You’re Actions Of Disposing Of Prophet Yusuf [AS] Down The Well & Of Lying To Your Father Prophet Yak’oub [AS] About Prophet Yusuf [AS]…And Allah (SWT) Is All Knowledgeable Of Your Description.
قَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا الْعَزِيزُ إِنَّ لَهُ أَبًا شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا فَخُذْ أَحَدَنَا مَكَانَهُ ۖ إِنَّا نَرَاكَ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ.(78)
They said, “O ‘Azeez, indeed he has a father [who is] an old man, so take one of us in place of him. Indeed, we see you as a doer of good.”(78).
The Brothers Of Prophet Ben Yameen [AS] Said To The Merchant Who Is The Treasury Minister Of The King Of Egypt, Oh Merchant Of Egypt, Prophet Ben Yameen [AS] Has An Old Aged Father (Prophet Yak’oub [AS]) Whom Prophet BenYameen [AS] Cannot Depart (To Enter The Compulsory Imprisonment Period). Thus “Take Any Of Us As A Substitute”. We Regard You Amongst The Benevolent.
قَالَ مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ أَن نَّأْخُذَ إِلَّا مَن وَجَدْنَا مَتَاعَنَا عِندَهُ إِنَّا إِذًا
لَّظَالِمُونَ.(79)
He said, “[I seek] the refuge of Allah [to prevent] that we take except him with whom we found our possession. Indeed, we would then be unjust” (79).
The Treasury Minister Said: “May Allah (SWT) Forbid That We Take (As Prisoner) Only Except Whom We Found The King’s Golden Measuring Bowl In His Saddle Bag. That Being Prophet Ben Yameen [AS]’s Saddle Bag. Otherwise, We Shall Be Regarded As Prejudicial, Wrongful & Unjust.
فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْأَسُوا مِنْهُ خَلَصُوا نَجِيًّا ۖ قَالَ كَبِيرُهُمْ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ أَبَاكُمْ قَدْ أَخَذَ عَلَيْكُم مَّوْثِقًا مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَمِن قَبْلُ مَا فَرَّطتُمْ فِي يُوسُفَ ۖ فَلَنْ أَبْرَحَ الْأَرْضَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْذَنَ لِي أَبِي أَوْ يَحْكُمَ اللَّهُ لِي ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الْحَاكِمِينَ.(80)
So when they had despaired of him, they secluded themselves in private consultation. The eldest of them said, “Do you not know that your father has taken upon you an oath by Allah and [that] before you failed in [your duty to] Joseph? So I will never leave [this] land until my father permits me or Allah decides for me, and He is the best of judges (80).
After Giving Up On The Position Of Prophet Yusuf [AS], His Brothers Secluded & Isolated Themselves And Their Eldest Brother (Either Roubeel Or Sheimon) Told All Prophet Yusuf’s Other Brothers: “Are You Aware That Your Father Prophet Yak’oub [AS] Has Committed You To A Vow & Pledge To Allah (SWT) Not To Be Negligent Of Prophet Yusuf [AS] ? Hence, I As Your Leader Shall Not Depart This Land Of Egypt Until My Father Allows Me Or Allah (SWT) Empowers Me (Including All Of Us Together) To Depart Egypt And He (SWT) Is The Ultimate & Overall Judge. Also, It Is Said That Allah (SWT) Enabled Roubeel Or Sheimon To Be Victorious Over Whoever Had Imprisoned Prophet Ben Yameen [AS], Liberating Him From Egypt & Taking Him Back To The Land Of Kanaan Where His Father And Eldest Brother Prophet Yusuf [AS] Live.
ارْجِعُوا إِلَىٰ أَبِيكُمْ فَقُولُوا يَا أَبَانَا إِنَّ ابْنَكَ سَرَقَ وَمَا شَهِدْنَا إِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمْنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلْغَيْبِ حَافِظِينَ(81).
Return to your father and say, “O our father, indeed your son has stolen, and we did not testify except to what we knew. And we were not witnesses of the invisible (81).
Go Back To Your Father (In The Land Of Kanaan) And Say: “Oh Father Your Son (Prophet Ben Yameen [AS]) Actually Stole The King Of Egypt’s Golden Measuring Bowl And We Witnessed What We Knew & Not Of The Invisible.
وَاسْأَلِ الْقَرْيَةَ الَّتِي كُنَّا فِيهَا وَالْعِيرَ الَّتِي أَقْبَلْنَا فِيهَا ۖ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ.(82)
And ask the city in which we were and the caravan in which we came – and indeed, we are truthful,”(82).
And Enquire In The Egyptian Village We Were In & The Camel Caravan Which Transported Us. We Are Honest, Sincere & Truthful.
قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا ۖ فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ ۖ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَن يَأْتِيَنِي بِهِمْ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ.(83)
[Jacob] said, “Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. Perhaps Allah will bring them to me all together. Indeed it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise” (83).
Prophet Yak’oub [AS] Said: Your Souls Have Allured You Into This Unpleasant Situation. Thus Have Patience, May Allah (SWT) Bring Them Collectively Back To Me To The Land Of Kanaan. He (SWT) Is The All Knowledgeable, The All Wise.
وَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا أَسَفَىٰ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَابْيَضَّتْ عَيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ.(84)
And he turned away from them and said, “Oh, my sorrow over Joseph,” and his eyes became white from grief, for he was [of that] a suppressor (84).
Prophet Yak’oub [AS] Turned Away Upset From His Brothers, Stopped Conversing & Saying: “My Sadness, Grief & Sorrow Over Prophet Yusuf [AS]” With His Eyes Whitening From This Sad Condition And Situation.
قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ تَفْتَأُ تَذْكُرُ يُوسُفَ حَتَّىٰ تَكُونَ حَرَضًا أَوْ تَكُونَ مِنَ الْهَالِكِينَ.(85)
They said, “By Allah, you will not cease remembering Joseph until you become fatally ill or become of those who perish” (85).
Prophet Yusuf [AS]’s Sons Replied Their Father: “By Allah (SWT) You Continue To Remember Prophet Yusuf [AS]’s Original Story Of Dropping Him Down A Well & Lying To His Father (Prophet Yak’oub [AS] About Being Devoured By A Wild Wolf. Prophet Yusuf’s Sons Affirmed That If Their Father Keeps Remembering Prophet Yusuf’s Past Ordeals, Then He Shall Be Terminally Sick And Eventually Loses His Life.
قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ.(86)
He said, “I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know (86).
Prophet Yak’oub [AS] Said:” I Essentially Complain My Anguish, Tribulation & Sadness To Allah (SWT) And Know From Him (SWT) What You Are Unaware Of. That Being Prophet Yak’oub [AS]’s Hope, Wish & Desire That His Beloved Son Prophet Yusuf [AS] Is Still Alive & That He Would See And Meet Him As Soon As Possible.
يَا بَنِيَّ اذْهَبُوا فَتَحَسَّسُوا مِن يُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ وَلَا تَيْأَسُوا مِن رَّوْحِ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَا يَيْأَسُ مِن رَّوْحِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْكَافِرُونَ.(87)
O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and despair not of relief from Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people”(87).
Oh My Sons Go To The Land Of Egypt Searching & Investigating About Prophet Yusuf [AS] & His Youngest Brother Prophet Ben Yameen [AS]. Have No Desperation & Anguish From Allah (SWT)’s Consolation & Reassurance, For Only Those Who Despair Are The Blasphemous.
فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ قَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا الْعَزِيزُ مَسَّنَا وَأَهْلَنَا الضُّرُّ وَجِئْنَا بِبِضَاعَةٍ مُّزْجَاةٍ فَأَوْفِ لَنَا الْكَيْلَ وَتَصَدَّقْ عَلَيْنَا ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَجْزِي الْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ.(88)
So when they entered upon Joseph, they said, “O ‘Azeez, adversity has touched us and our family, and we have come with goods poor in quality, but give us full measure and be charitable to us. Indeed, Allah rewards the charitable“ (88).
Upon Entering To Prophet Yusuf [AS] {Who Had Been Appointed By The King Of Egypt To Attend To Caravans Arriving From Outside Of Egypt}. Oh Azeez Of Egypt:” We & Our Family, Relatives & Relations Have Been Afflicted By Disease, Hunger & Are Carrying Poor Quality Goods. Thus Give Us The Full Measure Of The Bowls & Be Charitable To Us.
قَالَ هَلْ عَلِمْتُم مَّا فَعَلْتُم بِيُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ إِذْ أَنتُمْ جَاهِلُونَ.(89)
He said, “Do you know what you did with Joseph and his brother when you were ignorant”?
This Ayah Is A Summary And A Description Of What Happened To Prophets Yusuf [AS] & Prophet Ben Yameen [AS] In Egypt.
قَالُوا أَإِنَّكَ لَأَنتَ يُوسُفُ ۖ قَالَ أَنَا يُوسُفُ وَهَٰذَا أَخِي ۖ قَدْ مَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا ۖ إِنَّهُ مَن يَتَّقِ وَيَصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ.(90)
They said, “Are you indeed Joseph?” He said “I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allah has certainly favored us. Indeed, he who fears Allah and is patient, then indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good“(90).
The Brothers Of Prophet Yusuf Collectively Inquired:” Are You Indeed Yusuf [AS]? He Replied: “Yes, & He Ben Yameen [AS] Is My Brother. Surly, It Is Allah (SWT) Who Has Given Us His Great Favour & Grace”. And He (SWT) Shall Not & Will Not Let The Work Of The Generous & Humane Go Astray.
قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ آثَرَكَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَإِن كُنَّا لَخَاطِئِينَ.(91)
They said, “By Allah, certainly has Allah preferred you over us, and indeed, we have been sinners”(91).
The Brothers Of Prophet Yusuf Collectively Said: “By Allah (SWT), He Has Preferred & Distinguished You Over Us While We All Were In Error & Sinners Towards Our Brothers Prophets Yusuf [AS] & Ben Yameen [AS].
قَالَ لَا تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ ۖ يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ ۖ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ.(92)
He said, “No blame will there be upon you today. Allah will forgive you; and He is the most merciful of the merciful”(92).
Prophet Yusuf [AS] Said:” No Reprimand Or Responsibility Shall Befall You Today. Allah (SWT) Will Forgive You All & He (SWT) Is The Most Merciful.
اذْهَبُوا بِقَمِيصِي هَٰذَا فَأَلْقُوهُ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِ أَبِي يَأْتِ بَصِيرًا وَأْتُونِي بِأَهْلِكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ.(93)
Take this, my shirt, and cast it over the face of my father; he will become seeing. And bring me your family, all together“(93).
Prophet Yusuf [AS] Told His Brothers:” Take This Shirt Of Mine & Cast It Onto My Father’s Face; His Vision Will Return Back To Him {By A Miracle From Allah (SWT)}.
وَلَمَّا فَصَلَتِ الْعِيرُ قَالَ أَبُوهُمْ إِنِّي لَأَجِدُ رِيحَ يُوسُفَ ۖ لَوْلَا أَن تُفَنِّدُونِ.(94)
And when the caravan departed [from Egypt], their father said, “Indeed, I find the smell of Joseph [and would say that he was alive] if you did not think me weakened in mind”(94).
Upon Departing From Egypt Back To Kanaan, Prophet Ya’koub [AS] Said I Sense The Smell Of My Son Yusuf, If Only You (His Brothers) Did Not Describe Me As An Old Man With A Weak Memory.
قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لَفِي ضَلَالِكَ الْقَدِيمِ.(95)
They said, “By Allah, indeed you are in your [same] old error”(95).
They Told Their Father, Prophet Ya’koub [AS] By Allah (SWT), You Are In Your Old Aberrance. For You Continue To Keep Prophet Yusuf [AS] In Your Live Memory And Hope That He’s Alive For You To See Him Once Again Despite The Long Years Being Absent From You And The Previous Information That He Was Attacked & Devoured By A Wild Wolf.
فَلَمَّا أَن جَاءَ الْبَشِيرُ أَلْقَاهُ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِ فَارْتَدَّ بَصِيرًا ۖ قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ.(96)
And when the bearer of good tidings arrived, he cast it over his face, and he returned [once again] seeing. He said, “Did I not tell you that I know from Allah that which you do not know” (96).
As Soon As The Messenger Of Glad Tidings Arrived To Prophet Ya’koub [AS] He Threw Prophet Yusuf [AS]’s Shirt Over His Father’s Face, Only To Have Prophet Ya’koub [AS] Regain His Sight & Vision After Being Blinded For Many Years. Prophet Ya’koub [AS] Said To His Family & Sons In Particular:” Did I Not Tell You That I Knew From Allah (SWT) That Which None Of You Knew?”
قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا اسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا خَاطِئِينَ.(97)
They said, “O our father, ask for us forgiveness of our sins; indeed, we have been sinners”(97).
All The Sons Of Prophet Ya’koub [AS] Collectively Asked For Forgiveness For Their Bad & Jealous Behaviour Towards Prophet Yusuf [AS] & His Young Brother Prophet Ben Yameen [AS].
قَالَ سَوْفَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكُمْ رَبِّي ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ.(98)
He said, “I will ask forgiveness for you from my Lord. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful”(98).
Prophet Ya’koub [AS] Said: “I Will Ask For Forgiveness For All Of Us From My Lord (SWT), In The Early Hours Of The DawnFor Surly He Is The All Forgiving, The All Merciful.
فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ آوَىٰ إِلَيْهِ أَبَوَيْهِ وَقَالَ ادْخُلُوا مِصْرَ إِن شَاءَ اللَّهُ آمِنِينَ.(99)
And when they entered upon Joseph, he took his parents to himself and said, “Enter Egypt, Allah willing, safe [and secure]”(99).
Upon Arrival To Egypt Of Prophet Yakoub [AS] & His Wife (Who Was The Aunt Of Prophet Yusuf [AS]) & The Late Mother Of His Young Brother Prophet Ben Yameen [AS], Prophet Yusuf [AS] Took Them To His Residence Welcoming Them To Egypt & Offering Them Safety From Danger & Risk.
وَرَفَعَ أَبَوَيْهِ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ وَخَرُّوا لَهُ سُجَّدًا ۖ وَقَالَ يَا أَبَتِ هَٰذَا تَأْوِيلُ رُؤْيَايَ مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَعَلَهَا رَبِّي حَقًّا ۖ وَقَدْ أَحْسَنَ بِي إِذْ أَخْرَجَنِي مِنَ السِّجْنِ وَجَاءَ بِكُم مِّنَ الْبَدْوِ مِن بَعْدِ أَن نَّزَغَ الشَّيْطَانُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ إِخْوَتِي ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي لَطِيفٌ لِّمَا يَشَاءُ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ.(100)
And he raised his parents upon the throne, and they bowed to him in prostration. And he said, “O my father, this is the explanation of my vision of before. My Lord has made it reality. And He was certainly good to me when He took me out of prison and brought you [here] from bedouin life after Satan had induced [estrangement] between me and my brothers. Indeed, my Lord is Subtle in what He wills. Indeed, it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise (100).
While At The Residence Of Prophet Yusuf [AS], He Elevated To A Higher Position Prophet Yakoub [AS] & His Wife Bowing To Them & Saying:” Oh Father This Is The Visualization I Saw In My Sleep (Vision) Becoming True.
Allah (SWT) Was Also Merciful & Graceful To Me Upon Releasing Me From Prison And Bringing You From The Land Of Kanaan & My Brothers From The Bedwin (Desert) Life. Indeed Allah (SWT) Is Masterful & Skilful In What He (SWT) Wills. He (SWT) Is The All Knowledgeable, The All Wise.
رَبِّ قَدْ آتَيْتَنِي مِنَ الْمُلْكِ وَعَلَّمْتَنِي مِن تَأْوِيلِ الْأَحَادِيثِ ۚ فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَنتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ۖ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ.(101)
My Lord, You have given me [something] of sovereignty and taught me of the interpretation of dreams. Creator of the heavens and earth, You are my protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the righteous”(101).
Oh Allah (SWT) You Have Given Me A Share Of Your Dominion & Mastery & Skills Of Interpreting Vision As Well As Prophetic Hadeeth. You (SWT) Are The Creator Of The Heavens & Earth. Give Me A Muslim Death And Join Me With The Righteous On Judgment Day.
ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ أَنبَاءِ الْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهِ إِلَيْكَ ۖ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ أَجْمَعُوا أَمْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَمْكُرُونَ.(102)
That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal, [O Muhammad], to you. And you were not with them when they put together their plan while they conspired (102).
That Is From The Invisible information We (SWT) Reveal To You Oh Muhammad (SAAS). And You Were Not Amongst The Brothers Of Prophet Yusuf [AS] When They Were Conspiring To Throw Prophet Yusuf [AS] Down The Well.
وَمَا أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ.(103)
And most of the people, although you strive [for it], are not believers (103).
And Despite Your Endeavouring Oh Prophet Of Allah (SWT), Most Of The People Are Non-Believers.
وَمَا تَسْأَلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَالَمِينَ.(104)
And you do not ask of them for it any payment. It is not except a reminder to the worlds (104).
And Whatever You Oh Muhammad (SAAS) Recite Of The Qur’an Or Disclose Of Its Contents Or Its Revelation To Muslim Believers, Then This Glorious Revelation Is To All Humanity And Not Just To A Particular Sector Of The Human Population.
وَكَأَيِّن مِّنْ آيَةٍ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهَا وَهُمْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضُونَ.(105)
And how many a sign within the heavens and earth do they pass over while they, therefrom, are turning away (105).
And So Many Of The Ayat Created [By Allah (SWT)] In The Heavens [Stars & Planets] & Earth [Mountains, Valley & Oceans] The Non-Believers Turn Away Their Faces & Visions Away In Doubtfulness & Disbelief.
وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُم بِاللَّهِ إِلَّا وَهُم مُّشْرِكُونَ.(106)
And most of them believe not in Allah except while they associate others with Him (106).
And Most Of Them Disbelieve In Allah (SWT) While Taking Associates Such As Priests & Monks.
أَفَأَمِنُوا أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ غَاشِيَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ اللَّهِ أَوْ تَأْتِيَهُمُ السَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ.(107)
Then do they feel secure that there will not come to them an overwhelming [aspect] of the punishment of Allah or that the Hour will not come upon them suddenly while they do not perceive (107).
Are They In A Secure Position That No Torment Or Severe Punishment Shall Not Befall Them Or That Their ‘Hour’ Does Not Suddenly Arrive While They Are Not Aware Of.
قُلْ هَٰذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُو إِلَى اللَّهِ ۚ عَلَىٰ بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِي ۖ وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ.(108)
Say, “This is my way; I invite to Allah with insight, I and those who follow me. And exalted is Allah; and I am not of those who associate others with Him”(108).
Say Oh Prophet Of Allah (SWT), The Religion Of Islam Is My Path To Which I Invite People Who Follow Me With Insight, Prudence & Awareness. Glory Be To Allah (SWT) & I Am Not Amongst The Polytheists Or The Disbelievers.
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِي إِلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَهْلِ الْقُرَىٰ ۗ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۗ وَلَدَارُ
الْآخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ.(109)
We sent not before you [as messengers] except men to whom We revealed from among the people of cities. So have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? And the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah; then will you not reason?(109).
And We (SWT) Have Not Sent Before You Oh Muhammad But Men From The Villages (Of Arabia) Whom We (SWT) Inspire To Walk The Land & Villages Of Arabia & See The Remains Of People (Genertions) Before Them. And The Hereafter Is Much Better For Those Who Have Piety, Sublimity, & Grace.
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا اسْتَيْأَسَ الرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا جَاءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا فَنُجِّيَ مَن نَّشَاءُ ۖ وَلَا يُرَدُّ بَأْسُنَا عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ.(110)
[They continued] until, when the messengers despaired and were certain that they had been denied, there came to them Our victory, and whoever We willed was saved. And Our punishment cannot be repelled from the people who are criminals (110).
Until The Messengers Were In Desperation & Anguish Thinking That They Had Been Repudiated & Rejected, Victory From Allah (SWT) Came Down And Thus We Save Those Whom We Will. While Our Torment Cannot & Will Not Repulse Or Repel From The Sinners, The Wrongdoers & Transgressors.
لَقَدْ كَانَ فِي قَصَصِهِمْ عِبْرَةٌ لِّأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ ۗ مَا كَانَ حَدِيثًا يُفْتَرَىٰ وَلَٰكِن تَصْدِيقَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَتَفْصِيلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ.(111)
There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding. Never was the Qur’an a narration invented, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things and guidance and mercy for a people who believe (111).
Thus In Their Stories There Were Lessons For Those With Reason & Intention. The Glorious Quran Was Never An Invented Narration But A Confirmation, Corroboration & Affirmation Of Previous Revelation Like The Torah, The Bible & The Zbour (The Book Of Prophet Dawood). The Glorious Qur’an Is Thus A Detailed Final Revelation From Allah (SWT) To All Humanity
