   Surat Ghaffir

The Forgiver

 (Surah No 40)

Ayat 1-85

40:1

Ha Meem (1)

These are Arabic letters in the Glorious Qur’an. Only Allah (SWT) knows their meaning.

40:2

The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Knowing (2).

The Revelation of the Glorious Quran is From Allah (SWT), the Exalted in Might, the All Knowledeable.

40:3

The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination (3).

The acquitter of sin, the acceptor of remorse, harsh in penalization, owner of prosperity. No deity exists except Him (SWT). To Him (SWT) is all humankind’s destination in the Hereafter.

40:4

No one disputes concerning the signs of Allah except those who disbelieve, so be not deceived by their [uninhibited] movement throughout the land (4).

No humankind argues regarding the Ayat of Allah (SWT) except the disbelievers. Hence, Oh Muhammad (SAAS) do not be deceived by their unconstrained movement throughout the land.

40:5

The people of Noah denied before them and the [disbelieving] factions after them, and every nation intended [a plot] for their messenger to seize him, and they disputed by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth. So I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty (5).

The People of Prophet Nouh denied before them and the confederate disbelieving factions after them, and each nation plotted against their Messenger to captivate & arrest him, thus employing slander in attempting to repeal the truth. I (SWT) hence Seized them, & how horrific was Allah (SWT)’s Penalty.

 40:6

And thus has the word of your Lord come into effect upon those who disbelieved that they are companions of the Fire (6).

And hence the Word of Allah (SWT) has arrived upon the blasphemous disbelievers that they are associates of the hellfire.

40:7

Those [angels] who carry the Throne and those around it exalt [ Allah ] with praise of their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who have believed, [saying], “Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire (7).

Those Angles who carry the Throne of Allah (SWT) as well as those Angles surrounding the Throne, Glorify & Exalt Him (SWT), asking forgiveness for Muslims who have accepted Islam & the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (SAAS), Supplicating, “Oh Allah (SWT) You Have Aggrandized All Creation with Mercy & Knowledge, hence Forgive those Muslims who repented & followed your way, protecting them from the Hellfire in the Hereafter.

40:8

Oh Our Lord, admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise (8).

Oh Allah (SWT) Admit all Practicing Muslims to Jannat UL Naeem (Gardens of Perpetual Residence) which You SWT Have Promised, & whoever was righteous amongst their fathers, spouses & offspring. You SWT are the Exalted in Might, the Complete in Wisdom.

40:9

And protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds]. And he whom You protect from evil consequences that Day – You will have given him mercy. And that is the great attainment” (9).

And Oh Allah (SWT) Protect & Conserve humankind from the evil deeds which they perpetrated in their worldly lifetime. And whoever You Allah (SWT) Protect from the wicked consequences on Judgment Day, You (SWT) Would Have Granted them Your Mercy & Grace.

    40:10

Indeed, those who disbelieve will be addressed, “The hatred of Allah for you was [even] greater than your hatred of yourselves [this Day in Hell] when you were invited to faith, but you refused” (10).

Those blasphemous disbelievers will be told,” Allah (SWT)’s resentment of you was greater than your hatred of your own selves on this Day in Hell upon being invited to The Islamic Faith, however you rejected this invitation.

40:11

They will say, “Our Lord, You made us lifeless twice and gave us life twice, and we have confessed our sins. So is there to an exit anyway?” (11).

The blasphemous disbelievers said, Oh Allah (SWT) You Made us lifeless (sperms) in our father’s loins. Then He (SWT) Granted humankind life in the worldly lifetime. Subsequently, Allah (SWT) Caused humankind their death. Then on Resurrection Day, they confessed their sins, pledging & promising Allah (SWT) not to return to sinning. They pleaded to Allah (SWT),” is there an exit from the hellfire to return to our worldly lifetime ?”

 40:12

[They will be told], “That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allah , the Most High, the Grand” (12).

The blasphemous disbelievers shall be told, “That is because when Allah (SWT) is Invoked alone, you disbelieve. However, if other deities are associated with Him (SWT) you humankind believe. Hence, All & Complete Judgment is with Allah (SWT), The Supreme, The Glorious, The Knowledgeable.

 40:13

It is He who shows you His signs and sends down to you from the sky, provision. But none will remember except he who turns back [in repentance] (13).

Allah (SWT) Is The Creator Who shows humankind His Ayat, Delivering Provision & Sustenance from the skies. However, none shall remember except he/she who repent & remorse.

40:14

So invoke Allah , [being] sincere to Him in religion, although the disbelievers dislike it (14).

Consequently, Supplicate Allah (SWT) Sincerely, through Islam, despite the disbelievers resentment.

40:15

[He is] the Exalted above [all] degrees, Owner of the Throne; He places the inspiration of His command upon whom He wills of His servants to warn of the Day of Meeting (15).

Allah (SWT) Is The Glorified & Elevated Above All His Creation, Proprietor of The Throne. Delivering Inspiration of His Command Upon whom He (SWT) Wishes of His Servants Warning them of the Meeting Day in the Hereafter.

40:16

The Day they come forth nothing concerning them will be concealed from Allah . To whom belongs [all] sovereignty this Day? To Allah , the One, the Prevailing (16).

On Judgment Day in the Hereafter, nothing of humankind shall be hidden from Allah (SWT). To Allah (SWT) Belongs All Sovereignty & Prevalence.

40:17

This Day every soul will be recompensed for what it earned. No injustice today! Indeed, Allah is swift in account (17).

On this Day, each human soul will be awarded for what it had earned in its worldly lifetime. No injustice or aberrance on this day. Truly, Allah (SWT) Is Speedy & Swift in His Account.

  40:18

And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress]. For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed (18).

And Oh Muhammad (SAAS), warn the unjust & aberrant humankind from the approaching day, when their hearts reach their throats filled with anguish & torment. For the offenders there will be no faithful mediation or conciliator to be obeyed.

40:19

He knows that which deceives the eyes and what the breasts conceal (19).

Allah (SWT) Is Knowledgeable of that which deceives humankind’s vision  and chests.

40:20

And Allah judges with truth, while those they invoke besides Him judge not with anything. Indeed, Allah – He is the Hearing, the Seeing (20).

And Allah (SWT) Judges with Truth, while the blasphemous disbelievers who implore from the idols & deities, have no judgment. Truly, Allah (SWT) Is the All Hearing, the All Seeing.

40:21

Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector (21).

Have the blasphemous disbelievers not moved & travelled the land observing as to how the consequences for those humankind before them? They were greater than them in strength, number & effect on the land. However, Allah (SWT) captured them for their sins. And for their disbelief they had no protection from Allah (SWT) in the Hereafter.

40:22

That was because their messengers were coming to them with clear proofs, but they disbelieved, so Allah seized them. Indeed, He is Powerful and severe in punishment (22).

That was due to their Messengers arrived to them with doubtless proofs. However, they disbelieved, thus Allah (SWT) Seized them. Indeed He (SWT) Is Powerful & Severe in Retribution.

40:23

And We did certainly send Moses with Our signs and a clear authority (23).

And We (SWT) Evidently Delivered Prophet Mousa with Our Ayat & clear authority & dominion.

40:24

To Pharaoh, Haman and Harun; but they said, “[He is] a magician and a liar” (24).

To Pharaoh, Haman & Harun. However, these three blasphemous disbelievers said, “ Mousa is a magician & a liar.

40:25

And when he brought them the truth from Us, they said, “Kill the sons of those who have believed with him and keep their women alive.” But the plan of the disbelievers is not except in error (25).

And when Prophet Mousa came to them with the Truth from Us (SWT), they said,“ Kill the sons who have believed with Prophet Mousa & keep their woman alive for disgracing & dishonoring them. However,  the “cunning” of the disbelievers is but only in error.

 40:26

And Pharaoh said, “Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land” (26).

And the Egyptian Pharaoh said, Let me kill Prophet Mousa & let him supplicate to his creator. I am apprehensive that he will change your beliefs or lead to corruption in the land.

40:27

But Moses said, “Indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant one who does not believe in the Day of Account” (27).

However, Prophet Mousa replying to the Egyptian Pharaoh, “Verily, I have Supplicated to Allah (SWT) & to your lord from every conceited humankind who does not believe in Judgment Day”.

40:28

And a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith said, “Do you kill a man [merely] because he says, ‘My Lord is Allah ‘ while he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? And if he should be lying, then upon him is [the consequence of] his lie; but if he should be truthful, there will strike you some of what he promises you. Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar (28).

And a man from the Pharaoh family who kept his faith to Allah (SWT) hidden said, “ Do you kill a man solely for saying, “My Lord is Allah, whilst he has come up with clear proofs from your Lord? Conversely, if he is lying then he shall bear the result of his lie. However, if he is truthful, then he shall target some of what promises you. Allah (SWT) does not Guide offenders & violators.

40:29

O my people, sovereignty is yours today, [your being] dominant in the land. But who would protect us from the punishment of Allah if it came to us?” Pharaoh said, “I do not show you except what I see, and I do not guide you except to the way of right conduct” (29).

Oh my people supremacy, dominion & power is yours today in this land. However, who would protect us from the wrath of Allah (SWT) if it arrives to us? The Egyptian Pharaoh replied, I do not reveal to you except what I see, thus guiding you to the correct path.

40:30

And he who believed said, “O my people, indeed I fear for you [a fate] like the day of the companies (30).

And the one who was a believer in Allah (SWT) said, “ Oh my people, truly I fear a calamity & fate similar to the day of the confederates. Those who formed parties against their Messengers.

40:31

Like the custom of the people of Noah and of ‘Aad and Thamud and those after them. And Allah wants no injustice for [His] servants (31).

Similar to the tradition of the people of  Prophets Nouh, Aad & Thamud and those who came after them. And Allah (SWT) desires no injustice for His Servants from humankind.

40:32

And O my people, indeed I fear for you the Day of Calling (32).

And Oh my followers, I am truly apprehensive for you regarding the Day you call each other. The inhabitants of the hellfire call upon the inhabitants of Al Jannat & vice versa.

40:33

The Day you will turn your backs fleeing; there is not for you from Allah any protector. And whoever Allah leaves astray – there is not for him any guide (33).

On The Day humankind shall turn their backs fleeing; there will  not get from Allah (SWT) any protection. And whosoever Allah (SWT) leaves astray; there will not get any guidance.

40:34

And Joseph had already come to you before with clear proofs, but you remained in doubt of that which he brought to you, until when he died, you said, ‘Never will Allah send a messenger after him.’ Thus does Allah leave astray he who is a transgressor and skeptic” (34).

And Prophet Yousef  Son of Prophet Yaqoub had arrived humankind with clear proofs & miracles from Allah (SWT), however you persisted in your doubt of what he revealed to you saying Allah (SWT) will never send a messenger to follow him. Hence Allah (SWT) shall not leave aberrant & adrift those humankind who are breachers, violators & pessimists.

 40:35

Those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without an authority having come to them – great is hatred [of them] in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who have believed. Thus does Allah seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant (35).

As for those humankind who argue regarding Ayat Allah (SWT) without judgment & leverage arriving to them, great resentment for them & antipathy in the sight of Allah (SWT) & those who have believed. Hence Allah (SWT) Seals over the hearts of arrogant tyrants.

40:36

And Pharaoh said, “O Haman, construct for me a tower that I might reach the ways  (36).

And the Egyptian Pharaoh commanded his chief Haman, ”Oh Haman build me a tower through which I might be able to reach the pathways of the heavens.

 40:37

The ways into the heavens – so that I may look at the deity of Moses; but indeed, I think he is a liar.” And thus was made attractive to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was averted from the [right] way. And the plan of Pharaoh was not except in ruin (37).

The pathways into the heavens so that I am able to sight the idol of Prophet Mousa. However, I believe he is an imposter. And thus the evil deed of the Pharaoh was bypassed from the correct path, resulting in the destruction of his plan.

40:38

And he who believed said, “O my people, follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct (38).

And the believer in Allah (SWT) from the Pharaoh community said, “Oh my companions follow me & I shall direct you to the correct attitude.

 40:39

O my people, this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter – that is the home of [permanent] settlement (39).

And the believer in Allah (SWT) from the Pharaoh community further said, “Oh my companions, this worldly lifetime is “transitory”, and truly the Hereafter is the home of  the lasting & perpetual settlement.

40:40

Whoever does an evil deed will not be recompensed except by the like thereof; but whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – those will enter Paradise, being given provision therein without account (40).

Whosoever from humankind perpetrates a sinister act will not be rewarded except by a similar act. However, whosoever performs a righteous deed male or female (from humankind) while a believer, those shall enter Jannat (Paradise) being provided with nourishment & sustenance therein without reckoning.

40:41

And O my people, how is it that I invite you to salvation while you invite me to the Fire? (41)

And the believer in Allah (SWT) from the Pharaoh community  continued saying, “Oh my companions, how is it possible that I invite you to deliverance & rescue while you invite me to the hellfire.

40:42

You invite me to disbelieve in Allah and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, and I invite you to the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver (42).

And the believer in Allah (SWT) from the Pharaoh community further elaborated, “ You invite me to disbelieve in Allah (SWT) associating with Him that who is anonymous & obscure, while I invite you to Allah (SWT) the Exalted in Might, the Permanent Forgiver.

40:43

Assuredly, that to which you invite me has no [response to a] supplication in this world or in the Hereafter; and indeed, our return is to Allah , and indeed, the transgressors will be companions of the Fire (43).

Evidentely, that to which you implore & encourage me has no response to a supplication in this worldly lifetime or in the Hereafter & our return is to  Allah (SWT), while the trespassers shall be companions of the Hellfire.

 40:44

And you will remember what I [now] say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah . Indeed, Allah is Seeing of [His] servants” (44).

And you will remember what I am now saying to you and assign my matter to Allah (SWT). Truly, Allah (SWT) is Observing His servants.

40:45

So Allah protected him from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst of punishment (45).

Hence, Allah (SWT) Protected the Believer from the wickedness of the Pharaoh followers, who were surrounded by the extreme punishment.

40:46

The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening. And the Day the Hour appears [it will be said], “Make the people of Pharaoh enter the severest punishment”(46).

The Hell Fire to which the Pharaoh followers are exposed to morning & evening. And once the Hereafter arrives, make the Pharaoh followers enter the harshest chastisement.

 40:47

And [mention] when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, “Indeed, we were [only] your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire?” (47).

And the Pharaoh followers will argue inside the hellfire, with the weakest humankind saying to the conceited, “Verily we were your followers in the worldly lifetime, hence will you relieve us from a proportion of the hellfire?”.

40:48

Those who had been arrogant will say, “Indeed, all [of us] are in it. Indeed, Allah has judged between the servants” (48).

Those who had been arrogant in the worldly lifetime, will say in the Hereafter, “In fact we are all in the hellfire, Allah (SWT) Has Delivered Judgment between His servants. The believers in Him (SWT) are in Jannat while the disbelievers are in the Hellfire.

 40:49

And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, “Supplicate your Lord to lighten for us a day from the punishment” (49)

And those humankind undergoing torment in the hellfire will beg the keepers of Hell, to beseech Allah (SWT) to “reduce for us a day of chastisement”.

40:50

They will say, “Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?” They will say, “Yes.” They will reply, “Then supplicate [you, “Yourselves, but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error” (50).

They say replying, “Did your messengers not arrive to you with obvious proofs?” Their response was, “Yes”. Then the Angles of Hell said,” supplicate you disbelievers. However, their supplication was aberrant & in vein.

 40:51

Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand (51).

Evidently, We (SWT) Will Support & Back Our Messengers & those who are believers during the worldly lifetime & on the Day when the witnesses shall stand in the Hereafter.

40:52

The Day their excuse will not benefit the wrongdoers, and they will have the curse, and they will have the worst home (52).

On the Day in the “Hereafter” when no excuse shall benefit the unjust & aberrant & they surely will have the miserable home.

 40:53

And We had certainly given Moses guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture (53).

And We (SWT) certainly Delivered Prophet Mousa Guidance, Causing the children of  Israel to Inherit the Taura (Scripture).

40:54

As guidance and a reminder for those of understanding (54).

As instruction, guidance & reminder for humankind with understanding.

40:55

So be patient, [O Muhammad]. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And ask forgiveness for your sin and exalt [ Allah ] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning (55).

Thus Oh Muhammad (SAAS) be patient & perseverant, for the Promise of Allah (SWT) is Truth, Beseeching & Exalting Him (SWT) & asking for forgiveness so as to gain His Recompense in the evening & morning.

40:56

Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them – there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah . Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing (56).

Justifiably, those humankind who argue regarding the Ayat of Allah (SWT) without any mandate reaching them, then what their chests hold is nothing but pride which is unattainable. Thus seek asylum in Allah (SWT), verily He (SWT) Is The All Hearing & Seeing.

40:57

The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people do not know (57).

The Creation by Allah (SWT) of the Heavens & Earth is greater than the Creation of  humankind. However, most humankind are unaware of  this miracle. 40:58

And not equal are the blind and the seeing, nor are those who believe and do righteous deeds and the evildoer. Little do you remember (58).

And the blind & observant are unequal, nor are those believers who perpetrate righteous deeds and those transgressors. Your memory should be at your assistance.

40:59

Indeed, the Hour is coming – no doubt about it – but most of the people do not believe (59).

Undoubtedly, the Hereafter is approaching humankind, however most people are non-believing or unaware.

40:60

And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you.” Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible (60).

And Allah (SWT) Said Supplicate to me & I Will Respond to you. Truly, those humankind who disrespect Allah (SWT)’s Worship shall enter hellfire contemptuously.

40:61

It is Allah who made for you the night that you may rest therein and the day giving sight. Indeed, Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people are not grateful (61).

Allah (SWT) Created for humankind night for resting & daytime for observing & viewing. Truly, He (SWT) is full of generosity to humankind. However, most humankind are ungrateful.

40:62

That is Allah , your Lord, Creator of all things; there is no deity except Him, so how are you deluded? (62).

That is Alah (SWT) Your Only Deity & Supreme Creator of all Creation. No Creator Exist Except Him (SWT), hence how are you deceived ?

40:63

Thus were those [before you] deluded who were rejecting the signs of

Allah (63).

Hence, those humankind before you who rejected the signs of Allah (SWT) were misguided.

40:64

It is Allah who made for you the earth a place of settlement the sky a ceiling and formed you and perfected your forms and provided you with good things. That is Allah , your Lord; then blessed is Allah , Lord of the worlds (64).

Allah (SWT) Is the Deity Who Made the earth a settling place & the heavens a roofing & formed humankind with perfection and provided you with descent things. That is Allah (SWT) your Creator & Originator.

40:65

He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, [being] sincere to Him in religion. [All] praise is [due] to Allah , Lord of the worlds (65).

Allah (SWT) Is the Everlasting, the Ever living, No Immortal exists Other than He (SWT). Hence, Supplicate to Him in Islam Seeking His Acceptance.

40:66

Say, [O Muhammad], “Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you call upon besides Allah once the clear proofs have come to me from my Lord, and I have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds” (66).

Say Oh Muhammad [SAAS] Prophet & Messenger of Islam, Truly, I have been prohibited to worship deities besides Allah (SWT) & Have been Commanded to Submit to Allah (SWT) as a Muslim upholding the Glorious Qur’an & Sunnah plus five time daily Muslim Prayers.

40:67

It is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; then [He develops you] that you reach your [time of] maturity, then [further] that you become elders. And among you is he who is taken in death before [that], so that you reach a specified term; and perhaps you will use reason (67).

Allah (SWT) is the Creator Who Created Humankind from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging blood clot; later upon full growth in the mother’s womb, then He (SWT) Commands the child’s birth. Subsequently, He (SWT) Causes a humankind to Grow reaching maturity, then becoming older reaching the age of death before which you humankind employ reasoning as Practicing Muslim Believers.

40:68

He it is who gives life and causes death; and when He decrees a matter, He but says to it, “Be,” and it is (68).

It is He (SWT) Who Grants Life & Terminates human life through death. And Upon Decreeing any matter related to human creation, He (SWT) Commands it to “Become” & it becomes Reality.

 40:69

Do you not consider those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah – how are they averted? (69).

Do you Oh Prophet & Messenger of Islam [SAAS] not observe those who quarrel regarding the Ayat of Allah (SWT), how they are avoided & bypassed?

40:70

Those who deny the Book and that with which We sent Our messengers – they are going to know (70).

Those humankind who reject & refuse the Glorious Qur’an & the Messengers We (SWT) Delivered with their Messages, they shall know.

40:71

When the shackles are around their necks and the chains; they will be dragged (71).

Whereby the shackles are around their necks. & the handcuffs being  pulled & dragged by chains.

40:72

In boiling water; then in the Fire they will be filled [with flame] (72).

In effervescent water then in the Fire they shall be saturated with flames.

40:73

Then it will be said to them, “Where is that which you used to associate [with Him in worship] (73).

Subsequently, it shall be said to the blasphemous disbelievers, “Where is that which you used to associate a companion with in Worship?”

 40:74

Other than Allah ?” They will say, “They have departed from us; rather, we did not used to invoke previously anything.” Thus does Allah put astray the disbelievers (74).

Other than Allah (SWT) ? They reply saying, “We have gone astray along with the disbelievers”.

40:75

[The angels will say], “That was because you used to exult upon the earth without right and you used to behave insolently (75).

The angles of the Hellfire will respond saying, “That is because you used to glorify on the earth without acclaim behaving with arrogance.

40:76

“Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant”(76).

The angles of the Hellfire then command the arrogant & vane to the miserable residence of the arrogant blasphemous disbelievers, thus miserable & despicable is the home of the arrogant.

40:77

So be patient, [O Muhammad]; indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them or We take you in death, it is to Us they will be returned (77).

Thus Oh Muhammad [SAAS] Prophet & Messenger of Islam, perceiver, indeed  Allah (SWT)’s Promise is Truth. Hence, weather We (SWT) disclose to you of what We (SWT) Have Promised them or If  We (SWT) terminate your life, all humankind will return to Us on Judgment Day.

40:78

And We have already sent messengers before you. Among them are those [whose stories] We have related to you, and among them are those [whose stories] We have not related to you. And it was not for any messenger to bring a sign [or verse] except by permission of Allah . So when the command of Allah comes, it will be concluded in truth, and the falsifiers will thereupon lose [all] (78).

And We (SWT) Have hitherto delivered messengers before You Oh Muhammad [SAAS]. Some of  whom We (SWT) Have Related to you while others, We (SWT) Have Not Related to you. And no chosen Messenger comes up with a Sign or Verse without the Endorsement & Approval of Allah (SWT).

40:79

It is Allah who made for you the grazing animals upon which you ride, and some of them you eat (79).

Allah (SWT) is the Creator of the grazing animals upon which you ride to travel while others you eat.

40:80

And for you therein are [other] benefits and that you may realize upon them a need which is in your breasts; and upon them and upon ships you are carried (80).

And for you humankind, thereupon other benefits & uses which may be  attained in your chests & upon them & sailing ships humankind are transported.

40:81

And He shows you His signs. So which of the signs of Allah do you deny? (81).

And Allah (SWT) Reveals to Humankind His Ayat. Therefore, which of the Ayat of  Allah (SWT) does the male / female humankind deny ?

40:82

Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn (82).

Have the blasphemous disbelievers not travelled the earth only to observe those before them? They were more numerous, greater in strength & impression on land. However, they did not capitalize on their earnings.

40:83

And when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they [merely] rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule (83).

And once their messengers arrived to them with clear proofs, they literally rejoiced to what they processed of knowledge. However, they were wrapped by what they used to mock.

40:84

And when they saw Our punishment, they said,” We believe in Allah alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him” (84).

And once they observed Allah (SWT)’s Chastisement, the blasphemous disbelievers declared, “we submit to Allah (SWT), our Sole Creator & ridicule in that which we used to associate with Him (SWT). 40:85

But never did their faith benefit them once they saw Our punishment. [It is] the established way of Allah which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost [all] (85).

However, the blasphemous disbelievers faith did not assist them upon seeing our penalization. This is the Sunnah (Established Way) of Allah (SWT) which has been Determined Amongst His Creation (SWT) & there & then the blasphemous disbelievers lost everything in their possession.
