Al Shawkani Exegesis – Surat Al Jathia
(No 45)
Ayah 1-37
Ha, Meem.
These two letters are Miracles Of The Glorious Qur’an And Only Allah (SWT) [(Alone) Knows Their Meaning, Sense & Significance].
Indeed, within the heavens and earth are signs for the believers (3).
In reality & factually, within the heavens and earth are signs for the Muslim believers.
And in the creation of yourselves and what He disperses of moving creatures are signs for people who are certain [in faith] (4).
And in the Creation of Humankind & Whatever He (SWT) Apportions of moving living creators are signs for humankind who are assured in faith.
And [in] the alternation of night and day and [in] what Allah sends down from the sky of provision and gives life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and [in His] directing of the winds are signs for a people who reason (5).
And in the variation of night & day and in what Allah (SWT) delivers from the skies to humankind of sustenance, giving life to the planet earth after being lifeless. And In (SWT)’s Guidance & Direction of winds are Signs for humankind who have reason.
These are the verses of Allah which We recite to you in truth. Then in what statement after Allah and His verses will they believe?(6).
These are Ayat Of Allah (SWT) Reported in the Glorious Qur’an which We (SWT) Recite to you Oh Muhammad (SAAS) in Truth. Hence, in what expression after the Ayat of Allah will they be prepared & willing to believe ?
Misery & distress to every sinful liar.
Disaster & dejection to every sinful liar.
Who hears the verses of Allah recited to him, then persists arrogantly as if he had not heard them. So give him tidings of a painful punishment (8).
Who hears the Ayat of Allah (SWT) as Recited from the Glorious Qur’an, then in a persistent & arrogant way denies them. Then give him /her/ them notification of painful chastisement.
Before them is Hell, and what they had earned will not avail them at all nor what they had taken besides Allah as allies. And they will have a great punishment (10)
Behind them is hellfire & what they had earned in their worldly lifetime shall not benefit them whatsoever, nor what they had taken other than Allah (SWT) as human allies. And they will receive severe punishment.
This [Qur’an] is guidance. And those who have disbelieved in the verses of their Lord will have a painful punishment of foul nature (11).
This Glorious Qur’an Is Muslim Guidance. And those humankind who have blasphemously disbelieved in Allah (SWT), Prophet Muhammad (SAAS) & Islam, shall receive painful & heinous punishment. 
It is Allah who subjected to you the sea so that ships may sail upon it by His command and that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful (12).
Allah (SWT) Is The Creator & Deity Who Has Subjected to humankind the seas & oceans so that ships & vessels may sail upon it through Allah (SWT)’s Command Seeking His (SWT)’s Bounty, so that humankind will be Grateful & Thankful.
And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth – all from Him. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought (13).
And He (SWT) Has facilitated to humankind whatever exists in the heavens & whatever exists in the earth. All this Creation is from Him (SWT). Evidently, in that are Signs for humankind who are thoughtful.
Say, [O Muhammad], to those who have believed that they [should] forgive those who expect not the days of Allah so that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn (14).
Oh Muhammad (SAAS) inform the Muslims who have believed in Allah (SWT), in You & in the Glorious Qur’an, that they ought to forgive those humankind who do not anticipate the Days of Allah (SWT), So that He (SWT) May Indemnify humankind for worldly lifetime earnings.
Whoever does a good deed – it is for himself; and whoever does evil – it is against the self. Then to your Lord you will be returned (15).
Whosoever performs a descent deed or act, then the recompense is for himself /herself ; and whosoever does a sinister & vicious deed, then he / she performs it against themselves. Subsequently, all humankind shall be returned to Allah (SWT) on Judgment Day.
And We did certainly give the Children of Israel the Scripture and judgement and prophethood, and We provided them with good things and preferred them over the worlds (16).
And We (SWT) Surely Granted the Children of Israel the Scripture (Al Taura), Judgement & Prophethood & Provided them with Wholesome things & Preferred them over the worlds. 
And We gave them clear proofs of the matter [of religion]. And they did not differ except after knowledge had come to them – out of jealous animosity between themselves. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ (17).
And We (SWT) Provided the Israelites with obvious proofs of Judaism. And the Jews did not vary except subsequent to knowledge which had arrived to them out of jealousy between each other. Evidently, Allah (SWT) Shall Judge between them in the Hereafter, regarding issues over which they disputed.
Then We put you, [O Muhammad], on an ordained way concerning the matter [of religion]; so follow it and do not follow the inclinations of those who do not know (18).
Subsequently, We (SWT) Placed you Oh Muhammad (SAAS) upon a Decreed Established Path regarding Islam. Thus pursue & keep track of this Path making certain not to recognize & join the inclinations of those who are irreligious & irreverent.
Truly, they will never avail you against Allah at all. And indeed, the wrongdoers are allies of one another; but Allah is the protector of the righteous (19).
Evidently, the blasphemous disbelievers shall never ever benefit you Oh Muhammad (SAAS) against Allah (SWT) the least. And the aberrant unjust are allies to each other. However, Allah (SWT) Is The Custodian & Protector of the righteous.
This [Qur’an] is enlightenment for mankind and guidance and mercy for a people who are certain [in faith] (20).
Truly, this Glorious Qur’an is Illumination for humankind & True Guidance, Clemency & Blessing for those amongst them who have no doubt in their faith as is the Case with Muslim Believers.
Or do those who commit evils think We will make them like those who have believed and done righteous deeds – [make them] equal in their life and their death? Evil is that which they judge (21).
Alternatively, do those humankind who commit sinister & wicked acts believe We (SWT) Shall equate them with those humankind who perpetrate righteous deeds? Despicable is their judgment. 
And Allah created the heavens and earth in truth and so that every soul may be recompensed for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged (22).
And Allah (SWT) Created The Heavens & The Earth In Truth, in order that every humankind’s soul may be Rewarded for what they perpetrated in their worldly lifetime & they will not be unjustly oppressed.
Have you seen he who has taken as his god his [own] desire, and Allah has sent him astray due to knowledge and has set a seal upon his hearing and his heart and put over his vision a veil? So who will guide him after Allah ? Then will you not be reminded? (23).
Have you Oh Muhammad (SAAS) seen he / she who have taken their deity as they desire, & Allah (SWT) Has Sent them Astray due to their prior knowledge of Him (SWT) Setting a seal on their hearing & hearts as well as over their vision a screen ? Hence who will grant him / her Guidance after Allah (SWT). And so will you not be reminded ?
And they say, “There is not but our worldly life; we die and live, and nothing destroys us except time.” And they have of that no knowledge; they are only assuming (24).
And the blasphemous disbelievers say, “ There exists only our worldly lifetime; we die & live, & nothing destroys our existence except time”. And they have no knowledge regarding that; they only happen to be assuming.
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, their argument is only that they say, “Bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful”(25).
And whenever the Ayat of Allah (SWT) are recited to them as clear evidences, their reply argument was only to say, “escort back our forefathers, if you happen to be sincere.
Say, ” Allah causes you to live, then causes you to die; then He will assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt, but most of the people do not know” (26).
Say Oh Muhammad (SAAS), Allah (SWT) Causes humankind to live then causes them to die; the He (SWT) Will Assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt, but most of humankind do not know”
And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And the Day the Hour appears – that Day the falsifiers will lose (27).
And To Allah (SWT) Is The Possession of the Heaven & the Earth. And on the Day The Hereafter Appears the Counterfeiters will be the losers.
And you will see every nation kneeling [from fear]. Every nation will be called to its record [and told], “Today you will be recompensed for what you used to do (28).
And You Oh Muhammad (SAAS) will observe every civilization & community, kneeling from fear of Judgment Day. Every civilization shall be called to its Revelation. “Today each humankind shall be Recompensed for what they used to perpetrate.
This, Our record, speaks about you in truth. Indeed, We were having transcribed whatever you used to do” (29).
This Is Our Record, speaking about you in truth. Verily, We (SWT) Used to Transcribe whatever you humankind used to perpetrate.
So as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, their Lord will admit them into His mercy. That is what is the clear attainment (30).
Thus, for those humankind who Believed in Allah (SWT), In Muhammad (SAAS) & In the Glorious Qur’an and performed Righteous Deeds, Allah (SWT) Will Admit them into His Grace & Mercy. That is Ultimate Success.
But as for those who disbelieved, [it will be said], “Were not Our verses recited to you, but you were arrogant and became a criminals? (31).
As for the blasphemous disbelievers, the Angles of “Reconning” in the Hereafter, shall say; Were the Ayat of Allah (SWT) not recited to you? However, you were arrogant & ended up criminals.
And when it was said, ‘Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth and the Hour [is coming] – no doubt about it,’ you said, ‘We know not what the Hour is. We assume only assumption, and we are not convinced’ “ (32).
And if & when it was Said, “ Truly, the Promise Of Allah (SWT) Is Absolute Truth & The Hereafter is Approaching, Beyond Doubt. Humankind responded, “We do not know what the Hereafter is. we only speculate, without belief.
And the evil consequences of what they did will appear to them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule (33).
And the wicked consequences of what they perpetrated shall become clear to them. & they will be shrouded by what they used to mock.
And it will be said, “Today We will forget you as you forgot the meeting of this Day of yours, and your refuge is the Fire, and for you there are no helpers (34).
And Allah (SWT) Will Say, “Today We (SWT) Shall Forget you humankind similar to you forgetting This Day of the Hereafter. On this Judgment Day there will not be any help or relief.
That is because you took the verses of Allah in ridicule, and worldly life deluded you.” So that Day they will not be removed from it, nor will they be asked to appease [ Allah ] (35).
That is since you blasphemous disbelievers took the Allah (SWT), Muhammad (SAAS), The Glorious Qur’an & Muslims in Ridicule & Mockery. In addition worldly life deceived humankind. Hence on That Judgment Day they will not be released from it, nor will they find any Appeasement nor seek Reconciliation.
Then, to Allah belongs [all] praise – Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord of the worlds (36).
Hence to Allah (SWT) Belongs Exaltation & Glorification. He (SWT) Is the Creator & Superior Of The Heavens & The Earth, Commander Of All His Creation.
And to Him belongs [all] grandeur within the heavens and the earth, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise (37).
And To Allah (SWT) Belongs Majesty & Magnificence within the Heavens & the Earth And He (SWT) Is The Exalted In Might, The Full Of Wisdom.
