Al Shawkani Exegesis – Surat Al Hajj (No 22)

Ayah 1-87

22:1

O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing (1).

Oh, humankind fear Allah (SWT). Verily, the seizure & attack of the last hour of existence is a great thing.

22:2

On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe (2).

On that Great Day, humankind will see every nursing mother get distracted from her newly born baby she was nursing, & every pregnant female shall abort her pregnancy. Thus, humankind will appear to be drunken while they are not intoxicated. But Allah (SWT) is serious & grave in His punishment.

22:3

And of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge and follows every rebellious devil (3).

And amongst humankind are those who argue about Allah (SWT)’s existence without due knowledge following every rebellious Shaytan.

 22:4

It has been decreed for every devil that whoever turns to him – he will misguide him and will lead him to the punishment of the Blaze (4).

SWT has decreed that whoever turns to the Shaytan for guidance, then he shall misguide him leading him to the punishment of the Hellfire.

22:5

O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed – that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind (5).

Oh Humankind, if you happen to be in doubt of Resurrection Day, then be sure that We (SWT) created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from blood clots adjoined to each other, then from a lump of human flesh specialized & unspecialized. Then We (SWT) settle you into the female womb as a baby for a specific time, then We (SWT) bring you out from your mother’s womb as a child. Hence forth, We (SWT) develop you into maturity. And amongst you is he/she who dies early, while others end up at very old age losing all knowledge they once had. As for the dry barren land, We (SWT) upon sending down rain, the land swells & quivers thus growing something from all beautiful kinds of plants.

22:6

That is because Allah is the Truth and because He gives life to the dead and because He is competent over all things (6).

That is because Allah (SWT) is the Ultimate Truth, Granting Life to the Dead and He (SWT) is competent, qualified & capable of all creation.

22:7

And [that they may know] that the Hour is coming – no doubt about it – and that Allah will resurrect those in the graves (7).

And that verily humankind should be aware that the Hereafter is undoubtedly approaching, and that Allah (SWT) Shall resurrect all Believers in the graves.

22:8

And of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening book [from Him] (8).

And amongst humankind who argues about Allah (SWT)’s existence without due knowledge, guidance or through an enlightening book from Allah (SWT).

22:9

Twisting his neck [in arrogance] to mislead [people] from the way of Allah. For him in the world is disgrace, and We will make him taste on the Day of Resurrection the punishment of the Burning Fire [while it is said],

Turning his/her neck the other way in arrogance thus misleading Muslims from Allah (SWT)’s way. He/she shall thus taste disgrace in this world & We (SWT) will make him/her taste hellfire on Resurrection Day.

22:10

“That is for what your hands have put forth and because Allah is not ever unjust to [His] servants” (10).

That is for hands have committed & because Allah (SWT) is Never Unjust with His servants.

22:11

And of the people is he who worships Allah on an edge. If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what is the manifest loss (11).

And some humankind who worship Allah (SWT) are like being at the edge of a mountain. If he/she is affected by good fortune, he/she is reassured by the outcome. However, if he/she is hit by a tribulation, he/she turns his/her face the other way. Losing this world as well as the Hereafter. And that is the ultimate loss for humankind.

22:12

He invokes instead of Allah that which neither harms him nor benefits him. That is what is the extreme error (12).

He/she supplicates instead of Allah (SWT) to that which neither harms norbenefits them. That is extreme aberrance.

22:13

He invokes one whose harm is closer than his benefit – how wretched the protector and how wretched the associate (13).

He/she invokes one who is harmful closer than his/her beneficence. Damned is the protector & damned is the associate.

22:14

Indeed, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. Indeed, Allah does what He intends (14).

Verily, Allah (SWT) shall admit those humankind who believe in Him (SWT) & have done righteous deeds in their worldly lifetime into Jannat Na’eem beneath which rivers flow. Allah (SWT) Does what He desires.

22:15

Whoever should think that Allah will not support [Prophet Muhammad] in this world and the Hereafter – let him extend a rope to the ceiling, then cut off [his breath], and let him see: will his effort remove that which enrages [him]? (15).

Whosoever thinks that Allah (SWT) shall not support & assist Prophet Muhammad (SAAS) in this world & on Judgment Day, then let them extend a rope to the house ceiling, cutting his/her breath subsequently, and seeing will action & effort remove that which enrages him/her?

 22:16

And We have sent the Qur’an down as verses of clear evidence and because Allah guides whom He intends (16).

And We (SWT) have delivered the Glorious Qur’an [To Prophet Muhammad (SAAS)] as Ayat of clear & unequivocal evidence, to the Believing Muslims, thus Guiding Whom He (SWT) wants.

22:17

Indeed, those who have believed and those who were Jews and the Sabeans and the Christians and the Magians and those who associated with Allah – Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, Allah is, over all things, Witness.

Verily, humankind who believed (Jews, Sabeans & Christians) & the Magians as well as those who associated idols with Allah (SWT), He (SWT) will Judge between all Humankind on Resurrection Day. Indeed, SWT is Witness over all His Creation.

22:18

Do you not see that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures and many of the people? But upon many the punishment has been justified. And he whom Allah humiliates – for him there is no be pros tower of honor. Indeed, Allah does what He wills. (Prostration at the end of this Ayah in the Direction of Makkah).

To Allah (SWT) prostrates whoever is in the heavens, on the earth, the sun moon & stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures & many humankinds. However, upon many punishments is justified. Indeed Allah (SWT) does what He (SWT) Wills. (Prostration at the end of this Ayah in the Direction of Makkah).

22:19

These are two adversaries who have disputed over their Lord. But those who disbelieved will have cut out garments of fire for them. Poured upon their heads will be scalding water (19).

These are the two adversaries who have an altercation & clash over the existence of Allah (SWT). The Muslim believers on the one hand & the blasphemous nonbelievers who will have cut out for them garments of fire in addition to pouring on their heads scalding boiling water.

22:20

By which is melted that within their bellies and [their] skins (20).

This boiling water melts within their intestines & their skin.

22:21

And for [striking] them are maces of iron (21).

And for them there are amazing & astonishing maces of iron.

22:22

Every time they want to get out of Hellfire from anguish, they will be returned to it, and [it will be said], “Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire!” (22).

Whenever they wanted to escape the Hellfire due to torture, torment suffering, they are returned to it, & it shall be said to them, “Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire”.

22:23

Indeed, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearl, and their garments therein will be silk (23).

Verily, Allah (SWT) shall enter those believers in Islam & the Prophet Muhammad (SAAS) and who have perpetrated in their worldly lifetime righteous deeds to Gardens beneath which rivers flow. Such righteous humankind will be garnished & decorated therein by gold, pearl & silk.

22:24

And they had been guided [in worldly life] to good speech, and they were guided to the path of the Praiseworthy (24).

And in their worldly lifetime they were guided to descent speech & guided to the applaudable & commendable path.

22:25

Indeed, those who have disbelieved and avert [people] from the way of Allah and [from] al-Masjid al-Haram, which We made for the people – equal are the resident therein and one from outside; and [also] whoever intends [a deed] therein of deviation [in religion] or wrongdoing – We will make him taste of a painful punishment (25).

Verily, the blasphemous disbelievers who evade & avoid the Path of Allah (SWT) & from Al Masjid Al Haram (At Makkah Al Mukarramah) which We (SWT) made for Muslims residents therein & those Muslims arriving as Pilgrims to al Masjid al-Haram. And whosoever aims at wrongdoing while performing Hajj, We (SWT) shall make him/her taste painful punishment.

22:26

And [mention, O Muhammad], when We designated for Abraham the site of the House, [saying], “Do not associate anything with Me and purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who stand [in prayer] and those who bow and prostrate.

And Oh Muhammad (SAAS) tell the Muslim Pilgrims attending Hajj when We (SWT) designated for Prophet Ibrahim the site of My House (at Makkah) prohibiting them from associating any deity with Allah (SWT), cleansing it for All Muslims (in the act of Tawaf, those lining up for Prayers, as well as for those Bowing & Prostrating).

22:27

And proclaim to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass (27).

And announce publicly to the Muslims attending Hajj & they will come on foot, as well as riding on every lean camel, approaching Hajj from every distant pass.

22:28

That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals. So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor (28).

Those Muslims attending Hajj May encounter benefits for themselves uttering the name of Allah (SWT) on given days for what He (SWT) has gifted them of sacrificial animals. Hence, eat for yourself & feed the miserable poor.

22:29

Then let them end their untidiness and fulfill their vows and perform Tawaf around the ancient House” (29).

After performing the Muslim Call for Hajj, let them achieve & fulfill their vows performing their Tawaf around the Ka’ba at Al Masjid Al Haram.

   22:30

That [has been commanded], and whoever honors the sacred ordinances of Allah – it is best for him in the sight of his Lord. And permitted to you are the grazing livestock, except what is recited to you. So avoid the uncleanliness of idols and avoid false statements (30).

And whosoever upholds & honors the sacred regulations, mandates & commands of Allah (SWT), it will be best for him/her in the sight of Allah (SWT). And permission is granted to sacrifice grazing livestock (sheep, calf & camel) avoiding uncleanliness of idols and associating anything with Allah (SWT) by any false phrasing.

22:31

Inclining [only] to Allah, not associating [anything] with Him. And he who associates with Allah – it is as though he had fallen from the sky and was snatched by the birds, or the wind carried him down into a remote place (31).

Leaning only towards Allah (SWT), not associating anything with Him (SWT) any deity. However, whosoever associates with Allah (SWT) an idol, this would resemble him/her falling from the skies being grabbed by flying birds or being dropped down into a deep place.

22:32

That [is so]. And whoever honors the symbols of Allah – indeed, it is from the piety of hearts (32).

Hence, whosoever from humankind upholds & honors Allah (SWT)’s symbols & rituals, verily it will from the Muslim pious hearts & minds.

22:33

For you the animals marked for sacrifice are benefits for a specified term; then their place of sacrifice is at the ancient House (33).

For the animals earmarked for sacrifice to the pilgrim are benefits for a specific period. Then their place of sacrifice is at Al Masjid Al Haram.

22:34

And for all religion We have appointed a rite [of sacrifice] that they may mention the name of Allah over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals. For your god is one God, so to Him submit. And, [O Muhammad], give good tidings to the humble [before their Lord] (34).

And for all Muslims, We (SWT) Have Granted a Sacrificial Rite allowing Muslims to mention Allah (SWT)’s name over what He (SWT) has gifted them of animals for sacrifice. This is because Allah (SWT) is the One & Only Creator of the Heavens & Earth, thus Oh Muhammad (SAAS) give glad tidings to the pious & humble towards Allah (SWT).

22:35

Who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts are fearful, and [to] the patient over what has afflicted them, and the establishers of prayer and those who spend from what We have provided them (35).

Those Muslims who when Allah (SWT) is mentioned their hearts are submissive & fearful, being perseverant over what has afflicted them, those who establish five daily Salat & those whom We (SWT) have provided them with sustenance to spend for the sake of Allah (SWT).

22:36

And the camels and cattle We have appointed for you as among the symbols of Allah ; for you therein is good. So mention the name of Allah upon them when lined up [for sacrifice]; and when they are [lifeless] on their sides, then eat from them and feed the needy and the beggar. Thus have We subjected them to you that you may be grateful (36).

And as for sacrificial animals like camel & cattle, We (SWT) assigned for the Muslim pilgrim as symbols of Allah (SWT) there is good in them for the pilgrim. Hence utter upon them the name of Allah (SWT) when they are lined up for sacrifice. And when the animals are lifeless, eat from them & feed both the needy & beggar and be thankful & greatful to Allah (SWT) who offered you this opportunity.

22:37

Their meat will not reach Allah , nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you. Thus have We subjected them to you that you may glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and give good tidings to the doers of good (37).

Neither the sacrificail meat nor their blood reach Allah (SWT). However, piety from the Muslim is what Allah (SWT) receives. Hence, Allah (SWT) has subjected the sacrifices to Muslim Pilgrims to Glorify Him (SWT) for His Guidance & for giving glad tidings for those who perform desent deeds for the sake of Allah (SWT).

   22:38

Indeed, Allah defends those who have believed. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone treacherous and ungrateful (38).

Verily, Allah (SWT) is in the defense of all Muslim believers. He (SWT) does not appreciate or like the ungrateful, the insidious & the treacherous.

22:39

Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory (39).

Allah (SWT) has permitted the fighting Muslims who are being fought that they were unjustly treated. And He (SWT) is able & capable of granting the fighting Muslims total victory.

22:40

[They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right – only because they say, “Our Lord is Allah.” And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might (40).

Those who were unjustly evicted from their homes without a right & just cause because they say, Allah (SWT) is Our Lord. And had it not been for Allah (SWT)’s Help & Just Support for the Believers (Jews, Christians & Muslims) & their worship places (Monasteries, Churches, Synagogues & Mosques) against the blasphemous nonbelievers. These worship places would have been demolished & destroyed had it not been for the protection, safeguarding & preservation of Allah (SWT). Verily, Allah (SWT) is All Powerful & Exalted in Might.

22:41

[And they are] those who, if We give them authority in the land, establish prayer and give zakah and enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong. And to Allah belongs the outcome of [all] matters (41).

Those being the Muslims whom upon receiving authority from Allah (SWT) in the land establish five daily Salat, give out Zakah (Alms) and enjoin the right (correct action) & forbid the (wrong action). And to Allah (SWT) belongs all commands, dominance & outcome.

22:42

And if they deny you, [O Muhammad] – so, before them, did the people of Noah and ‘Aad and Thamud deny [their prophets] (42).

And if Oh Muhammad (SAAS) you are denied of your Prophecy. So did the followers of Prophets Nouh, Aad & Thamud reject & decline their prophets.

  22:43

And the people of Abraham and the people of Lot (43).

And the followers of Prophets Ibrahim & the followers of Prophet Lout.

22:44

And the inhabitants of Madyan. And Moses was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach (44).

And for the occupants & inhabitants of Madyan (who were blasphemous disbelievers), they denied the Prophecy of Mousa, I (SWT) therefore extended their time of enjoyment of disbelief seizing them subsequently, thus how was SWT’s castigation & scolding.

22:45

And how many a city did We destroy while it was committing wrong – so it is [now] fallen into ruin – and [how many] an abandoned well and [how many] a lofty palace (45).

And how many of villages did We (SWT) destroy because of its unjust and aberrant attitude, thus being ruined. And how many abandoned water wells & towering lofty palaces ended up with the same outcome.

22:46

So have they not traveled through the earth and have hearts by which to reason and ears by which to hear? For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts (46).

Thus, has humankind not travelled through the land having hearts for reasoning & ears for listening. Verily, it is not vision that is blinded but the hearts within the human chests.

22:47

And they urge you to hasten the punishment. But Allah will never fail in His promise. And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count (47).

And the blasphemous disbelievers contemptuously urge you to speed up punishment, however, Allah (SWT) shall never fail His Promise. And a day with Allah (SWT) is equivalent to a thousand years of what humankind counts.

22:48

And for how many a city did I prolong enjoyment while it was committing wrong. Then I seized it, and to Me is the [final] destination (48).

And for many villages, I (SWT) extended their time of enjoyment while it was aberrant & unjust. Subsequently, I (SWT) took hold of it & to Allah (SWT) is the ultimate destination.

22:49

Say, “O people, I am only to you a clear warner” (49).

Tell humankind, Oh Muhammad (SAAS), I am to you an evident warner.

22:50

And those who have believed and done righteous deeds – for them is forgiveness and noble provision (50).

Hence, for believers in Islam & Muhammad (SAAS) & who have perpetrated righteous deeds, Allah (SWT) will provide them with forgiveness and noble sustenance.

22:51

But the ones who strove against Our verses, [seeking] to cause failure – those are the companions of Hellfire (51).

However, those who endeavor & struggle against the Ayat of the Glorious Qur’an aiming to disgrace & belittle its revelation, will be amongst the companions of hellfire & thalamus.

22:52

And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke [or recited], Satan threw into it [some misunderstanding]. But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws in; then Allah makes precise His verses. And Allah is Knowing and Wise (52).

And We (SWT) did not reveal before your Message Oh Muhammad (SAAS) any messenger or prophet whom upon reciting his message, Al Shaytan threw into it his misconception & misinterpretation. Subsequently, Allah (SWT) Eliminates that which Al Shaytan engulfs, making His Ayat Precise. Allah (SWT) Is the All Knowing & All Wise.

22:53

[That is] so He may make what Satan throws in a trial for those within whose hearts is disease and those hard of heart. And indeed, the wrongdoers are in extreme dissension (53).

Thus Allah (SWT) makes what Al Shaytan casts as a trial for those with diseased & hard hearts. Verily, the unjust & aberrant are in dissension.

 22:54

And so those who were given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord and [therefore] believe in it, and their hearts humbly submit to it. And indeed is Allah the Guide of those who have believed to a straight path (54).

Oh Muhammad (SAAS) let those who were revealed knowledge that it is the full truth from Allah (SWT), thus believing in it & submitting graciously to the Glorious Qur’an. Verily, Allah (SWT) is the True & Ultimate Guide of Muslims who have submitted on to a straight path.

22:55

But those who disbelieve will not cease to be in doubt of it until the Hour comes upon them unexpectedly or there comes to them the punishment of a barren Day (55). 22:56

However, for the blasphemous disbelievers, they will not stop being suspicious of Judgment Day until it is upon them unexpectedly or the punishment of a wasteful infertile day.

22:56

[All] sovereignty that Day is for Allah; He will judge between them. So they who believed and did righteous deeds will be in the Gardens of Pleasure (56).

On Judgment Day All Sovereignty & Supremacy belongs to Allah (SWT) & He (SWT) shall judge between humankind. And those who did righteous deeds in their worldly lifetime will be amongst those entering Jannat Al Na’eem.

22:57

And they who disbelieved and denied Our signs – for those there will be a humiliating punishment (57).

And for those blasphemous disbelievers who disbelieved & denied the Ayat of Allah (SWT) as revealed in the Glorious Qur’an, then for those, awaits a humiliating torment & agony.

22:58

And those who emigrated for the cause of Allah and then were killed or died – Allah will surely provide for them a good provision. And indeed, it is Allah who is the best of providers (58).

And those who emigrated for the cause of Allah (SWT) and then were killed or died – Allah (SWT) will indeed provide for them a descent sustenance. And verily, it is Allah (SWT) who is the best of providers.

 22:59

He will surely cause them to enter an entrance with which they will be pleased, and indeed, Allah is Knowing and Forbearing (59).

Allah (SWT) will ultimately cause the righteous humankind to enter an entrance which they shall surely be pleased with. Indeed Allah (SWT) is the All Knowing & All Forbearing.

22:60

That [is so]. And whoever responds [to injustice] with the equivalent of that with which he was harmed and then is tyrannized – Allah will surely aid him. Indeed, Allah is Pardoning and Forgiving (60).

Thus, whosoever responds to injustice like that which he/she were harmed with then oppressed, Allah (SWT) will ultimately aid him/her, Allah (SWT) is both Pardoning & Forgiving.

22:61

That is because Allah causes the night to enter the day and causes the day to enter the night and because Allah is Hearing and Seeing (61).

That is because Allah (SWT) causes the night to sequentially enter day while day sequentially enters night. Indeed, Allah (SWT) is Hearing & Seeing.

22:62

That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Most High, the Grand (62).

That is because Allah (SWT) is the Truth and that which the blasphemous disbelievers supplicate to other than Allah (SWT) is untrue & because Allah (SWT) is the Highest & the Most Glorious.

22:63

Do you not see that Allah has sent down rain from the sky and the earth becomes green? Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted (63).

Oh Muhammad (SAAS) do you not see that Allah (SWT) has brought down rain from the sky such that the earth becomes green? Verily, Allah (SWT) is magnificent & majestic in His Creation.

22:64

To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth. And indeed, Allah is the Free of Need, the Praiseworthy (64).

Allah (SWT) has the ownership of what is in the heavens and what is on earth. He (SWT) is the Richest & the Worthiest of Praise.

22:65

Do you not see that Allah has subjected to you whatever is on the earth and the ships which run through the sea by His command? And He restrains the sky from falling upon the earth, unless by His permission. Indeed Allah , to the people, is Kind and Merciful (65).

Oh Muhammad  (SAAS) do you not see that Allah (SWT) has subjected for His Creation whatever is on the earth, and the ships sail within the sea upon His Command (SWT)? And Holds the sky from declining & downfalling on the earth except by His Permission. Varely, Allah (SWT) is Kind & Merciful to humankind.

22:66And He is the one who gave you life; then He causes you to die and then will [again] give you life. Indeed, mankind is ungrateful (66).

And He (SWT) is the Creator who Granted humankind life, then He results in their death, only to give them life once again. Varely, humankind is blasphemous. 22:67

For every religion We have appointed rites which they perform. So, [O Muhammad], let the disbelievers not contend with you over the matter but invite them to your Lord. Indeed, you are upon straight guidance.

For every religion (Before Islam) We (SWT) assigned rituals which they perform (Judaism & Christianity). Hence Oh Muhammad (SAAS) let the blasphemous disbelievers contend with you concerning the issue but invite to Allah (SWT) & to Islam. Verily, you are being Guided on a Straight Path.

22:68

And if they dispute with you, then say, ” Allah is most knowing of what you do (68).

And if the blasphemous disbelievers Oh Muhammad (SAAS) argue with you disputing the issue, say, Allah (SWT) is All Knowing of your actions.

22:69

Allah will judge you on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which you used to differ (69).

Allah (SWT) shall be the Judge between the Muslims & blasphemous disbelievers on Judgement Day regarding the issues upon which they differed.

22:70

Do you not know that Allah knows what is in the heavens and earth? Indeed, that is in a Record. Indeed that, for Allah, is easy.

Oh Muhammad (SAAS) are you not aware that Allah (SWT) knows what exists in the Heavens & Earth? Verily, that is in a Record which for Allah (SWT) is simple.

22:71

And they worship besides Allah that for which He has not sent down authority and that of which they have no knowledge. And there will not be any helper for the wrongdoers.

And the blasphemous disbelievers worship apart from Allah (SWT) that which He (SWT) has not revealed authority for & which they don’t have any knowledge of. Without any due help from the unjust.

  22:72

And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidence, you recognize in the faces of those who disbelieve disapproval. They are almost on the verge of assaulting those who recite to them Our verses. Say, “Then shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that? [It is] the Fire which Allah has promised those who disbelieve, and wretched is the destination” (72).

And Oh Muhammad (SAAS) when our Ayat (from the Glorious Qur’an) are recited to the blasphemous disbelievers as clear evidence, you notice on the faces disbelieve & resentment. They are about to attack those who recite Our Ayat. Say Oh Muhammad (SAAS),” I will inform you of what is far worst. It is the Fire that Allah (SWT) has promised the blasphemous disbelievers, & miserable & wretched is their destination.

   22:73

O people, an example is presented, so listen to it. Indeed, those you invoke besides Allah will never create [as much as] a fly, even if they gathered for that purpose. And if the fly should steal away from them a [tiny] thing, they could not recover it from him. Weak are the pursuer and pursued (73).

Oh humankind, an example is offered thus listen to it. Verily, those idols & deities you invoke other than Allah (SWT) will never create as much as a fly. Even if all came together for that objective. And if the flies were to steal a small, tiny thing, they would not be able to recover it. Weak are the pursuers & pursued.

22:74

They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might (74).

They have not given Allah (SWT) the true evaluation & consideration. Verily, Allah (SWT) is all Powerful, Mighty, Superior & Prominent.

22:75

Allah chooses from the angels’ messengers and from the people. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Seeing (75).

Allah (SWT) Selects from His Angles Messengers as well as from Humankind, Verily, Allah (SWT) is All Hearing & All Seeing.

22:76

He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them. And to Allah will be returned [all] matters (76).

He (SWT) knows what is currently in their hands and what will be after them. And to Him (SWT) all matters will be returned.

22:77

O you who have believed, bow and prostrate and worship your Lord and do good – that you may succeed (77).

Oh you who have believed in Islam & Prophet Muhammad (SAAS) bow then prostrate in Salat, worshipping Allah (SWT) & perform righteous deeds such that Muslims may succeed on Judgment Day & Enter Jannat Na’eem.

(Prostration at the end of this Ayah in the Direction of Makkah).

22:78

And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. Allah named you “Muslims” before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakah and hold fast to Allah. He is your protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper (78).

And pursue & endeavor for Allah (SWT) the striving due to Him (SWT). Allah (SWT) has selected you (Muslims) without causing any difficulty in practicing Islam. Islam is the religion of your Father Prophet Ibrahim. Allah (SWT) gave you the name of “Muslims” before in former and earlier scriptures (Judaism & Christianity) as well as in this revelation (the Glorious Qur’an) that Muhammad (SAAS) may be your Witness & you Muslims may be witnesses over humankind. Hence, establish Salat & give out Zakah, holding fast to Allah (SWT). Indeed He (SWT) is your True Protector. Outstanding is your Protector & Aid.
